For the record, not that it matters, but Usernames will not be changed on Amiga.org.  If someone has guessed your password, change it.  Other than that, what's the big damned deal?  Anyone can go to any site using a nickname authentication system and register using a nickname.  Yours, mine, anyone's.  There's someone at AOL using every single one of my nicknames.  Same with MSN.  Even the particularly weird ones.  Not a hell of a lot that can be done.  Not really a hell of a lot that matters.

It's not like someone guessed your social security number and is signing you up for credit cards.

I cannot believe you've let these guys rile you up so much that you're literally freaking out over this.  People use other people's nicks all the time, especially on easy-to-spoof sites like ann.lu and Moobunny.  You've drug this thread on for seven pages, getting more and more upset over something that doesn't matter in the slightest (IMO) and this has gone on long enough.

Next thing I know, you'll be blaming me for someone using your nick, or worse yet, saying that I did it.

In all honesty, with no ill-will intended, I have more important things to worry about -- in real life AND on this site -- than someone nicking your nick on some other site.  I think we ALL have more to worry about than something so inconsequential.  What the hell do you expect me to do about it anyway?  Threaten to sue them (which seems to be all the rage nowadays in this community)?

Allow me to please ask this :

If someone reading this thread (I don't care who it is) is really mis-using the guy's nickname, please stop.  Even though this thread certainly has a high entertainment value, it's not really funny.  I mean imagine what would happen if someone were to go to another site, open up an account (pure example, opening up another "bloodline" account) then start trolling (or worse yet, threatening or buying things -- like on ebay) in your name.

I can see why CU might be a little upset, but in my never-so-humble opinion, all that he needed to do was say "This guy ain't me" and that's pretty much it.  No hysterics, no drama required.  However, this IS the Amiga community, and I guess drama comes natural to some people...

Again, if you're the person doing this to him, please consider stopping.  Any amount of "funny" is long since gone (about 4 pages of comments ago).

I was under the impression he was having a good laugh and I honestly thought it was all just a made up joke. If I had know right at the start that he was being serious I would never have joked about it.

I mean getting the webmaster involved over something so trivial just defeats logic as far as I am concerned. What on earth has this guy that is using his name done to cause this much rage and fury for goodness sake? And WTF has this got to do with Wayne anyway. He is not responsible for what goes on in another part of the web. Why give him grief over this? It just sounds pathetic to the point of disbelief.

AFAIK the namesake only asked an innocent question on some gaming forum that I have never before heard of.

How does this mean that his name has been brought into disrepute? What reputation? It's just a computer forum for enthusiasts for pete's sake.

All we know is that there is an Amiga.org user using the nick CU_AMiGA and that it was the name of an Amiga magazine at some point. The possibility of another Amiga user using the title of that Magazine as their handle on another forum is not that unlikely and most probably a coincidence, hence the lighthearted approach to this topic by most people.

Please tell me this is a wind up because if it isn't then it is just beyond my comprehension.   :-(

I think locking this thread would definately be a good idea as the humour has long since expired  :roll:

Indeed, I can't see anything nefarious about the other guy using the same nick. We can't even accuse him of being surreptitiously derisive.

Right. Email sent 3 days ago to "James - The CU_AMiGA FAKER" and i have still not recieved a reply from him. On this results, we can now all declare, that i am the REAL CU_AMiGA. I also though of a theory that could have happended.

1. I started off the CU_AMiGA franchise username on Amiga Forums.

2. I join Lemon64, GP32X, AmigaWorld and Amiga.org forums later and i burst into a wave of popularity. Including dueling with the famous DoomMaster and Cyberus (my personal favourite).

3. Then some snake in the grass becomes jealous of CU_AMiGA popularity and so decides they want a piece of this and creates a fake CU_AMiGA account and (badly) impersonates me.

4. I break the shocking news on these boards and dishes out a warning to the imposter.

5. The FAKE CU_AMiGA becomes terrified of the warning i put up, and so admits to defeat and bows his head down in shame.
