Here we go again with CS PPC
« on: November 23, 2004, 02:18:12 AM »
Only been up for a day and it's over $450.00 already. I hope there is an affordable PPC alternative soon for the rest of us.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4598&item=5141673594&rd=1

I also hope whomever the winner is ends up getting a working board:-o

There was something dodgy about karmans. Can't recall what, but that nick is among doomy and berndbinder in my ebay 'do not buy from and not allowed to bid on my auctions'-list.

It's the only guy on the net that has apparently successfully ripped off Doomy, and in return Doomy drove all the way to Quebec/Canada from Beaverton/Oregon and beat him up. I hope that you are sitting down:

Funny stuff, eh? :-)

He's on my don't buy list because he knowningly sold me a destroyed and non-repairable A3000T MB.  Even after I specifically asked him about battery damage:pissed:  This is really too bad because he seems to have a pretty good flow of higher end stuff I might otherwise buy.

Its always better to be safe than sorry.

I see so many ebay sellers with a feedback rating of zero selling a Sony Vaio or some other desirable high-priced item.
And because it is 'desirable' people seem to forget themselves, and bid on it. I always wonder if they ever get the item after transferring over a 1000 pounds to a stranger's bank account...

Sure, everyone has to start somewhere. But the first item I sold on ebay was a CD or something...

Sorry, I digress.

No, it's not.  It's immature, disgusting, pathetic, and, ultimately, illegal.  Outside of an ever-shrinking handful of honest vendors, the Amiga market is a dismal display of scammers and idiots like these.

It's completely repulsive that this is whats become of the platform I once loved.

Ask to the seller for a better picture before bidding.

There is a blurred capacitor on the picture . . .don't know why!?!

@ Framiga

He probably cut the PPC board out from whatever digital photo or scan he had of it, and pasted it on the purple background. When he saw that the marquee tool had left him with angular edges on the round edge of the capacitor he probably blurred it.

Well, we know that he's a rough cut 'n paster now. See also the north edge of the board: there is a light blurry band on it, also from a cut 'n paste job.

That happened to me quite recently.

I bid on a Sony Vaio laptop and won, and transferred £600 to the guy's bank account.  He only had 6 feedback, but the auction looked ok, and he gave his bank account number and sortcode in the auction listing and even had a big "HSBC" logo in the listing.

Anyway, after transferring the money I never heard from him again.

The telephone number he had registered on ebay was a taxi company in Manchester, and the address was a student halls of residence in London.  The bank wouldn't tell me anything.

I transferred all the details to the police (including the guy's bank account number) and they basically said to put it down to experience and forget about it.

I doubt they even bothered investigating - the officer said this sort of thing happens all the time.

So, be very careful buying expensive items from Ebay, and if you can, collect the goods and pay cash after inspecting them.

The best part of this thread, and the fictional thread where sombody claimed to go to quebec and beat him up is the complete and utter ignorance about Canada.

Calgary is in the WEST, not in the East. People speak ENGLISH everywhere in Canada (with the exception of a few places in Quebec which is a mere >2500KM (1550 miles) away from Calgary) It's equivelent to me saying "Man, I had to drive to Minnesota to take care of some mexican guy who ripped me off on ebay. It was hard finding him in the middle of an entirely spanish speaking town, and nevermind me getting lost in the Cuban quarter at first, but I did it." :-D

Canada has 14% french speaking people, 95% of those are in Quebec... The only reason this nation is bilingual was to differentiate the media and the national identity from the USA in the early 60's. It also helped to seperate commerce (products sold in Canada have to have both english and french on them - this helped to block products from the USA being illegally sold in Canada without proper tarrifs/duties being paid beforehand.)

But, enough of my little history lesson: suffice it to say if somebody blocks thier feedback info or identity from you on eBay you should be very very wary up front. But, on the other hand, he has sold 735 items and has a total of 3 negative feedbacks and 402 positive...

However, in short, stick to buying from honest people like me and red.
