Help installing a game
« on: November 22, 2004, 11:14:36 PM »
I've downloaded the game Black Lamp in lha, but when i go to install it, halfway through it asks me to insert disk one. I've tried various things but it always tells me the disk imaging is not complete...

any suggestions would be fan-freakin-tasic  :-D

Are you sure your disk is good?  (ie. can you play it from floppy?).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I assume you have an installer from WHDLoad.  If that's it then all you have is the HD installer, not the game.  You need to get the game.  Either buy it, or if it's released to the public there should be a link to it from the WHDLoad site.  You can also check Back to the Roots (www.back2roots.org).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

You can download the game on the Amiga Magix site.

That's correct, it's packed with LZX. You will need an UnLZX progam for that. If you are on Windows, there's an unpacker here (packed with LHA, but you can use the wellknown WinRAR to unpack LHA files). Here is an Amiga version of LZX.

Oh and welcome on a.org :pint:.

Hmm.  You're using WinUAE...  Let's have a think about this one...

It might be that the configuration settings need some adjustment.  Can you check which type of Amiga you're emulating and the ROM (1.2, 1.3, 2.0, 2.1, 3.0 or 3.1) you're using?  That might help narrow it down.

The other thing you could do is change the memory settings to 0.5 Mb Chip mem and 0.5 Mb Fast, as some games are sensitive to the amount of memory allocated.  IIRC BlackLamp is circa 1989 which makes it quite an old game, therefore it's probably best to set UAE up to emulate an Amiga 500 with 1.2 / 1.3 ROMs installed.
