Problem with posting
« on: November 22, 2004, 04:44:05 PM »
Hi!

When I submit a post, I get an error message. I click back to the text editor page. There I find an empty field - every word I wrote is gone. (It should be possible to get the message back again at this point, at least other forums work that way.)

Solution:
I open Norton Internet Security and turn off the protection. Now the posting works.

Why, why is it this way? Why do I have to turn off my security to post here? I post in a few other forums but this problem only occur at amiga.org.

Thankful for answer,
Viking

Knowing what this place is like you may get the answer:

"blame Xoops"

Does anybody else here use Norton and have the same problem?

No, blame Norton Internet Security. Don't remember how, but you have to configure NIS that either all sites are permitted to sent data or only certain websites (like amiga.org, amigaworld.net, ann.lu, morphzone.org etc etc) are alowed to sent data to the server. It depends a bit on the server / forum software used. (Edit; Maybe ann.lu does work with NIS, not sure, but most/all xoops sites won't IIRC)

How to configure NIS depends on the version (AFAIK NIS 2003 does it different then NIS 2004).
