who can repair my A590 unit ?
« on: November 22, 2004, 10:19:43 AM »
hello there,

As you can see in a previous post, I have troubles with my A590 unit :-(. Is there anyone in France (or Europe) that could repair it for me, install a 2Gb 50pins SCSI and make it booteable? I will of course pay you for this....

thanks a lot!

I'm afraid I have fried some chips on it though, so might as well just bin the thing, but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what is broken. If it's just a question of installing, prepping and formatting no problem, i'll do it for you. If you have fried parts of it and is really dead (not just the hard disk) it would probably better to replace the unit. You'll have to send it to The Netherlands though!

hi Tahoe,

I can bring it to Holland as I am dutch and come there once every two months. I might SEND it to you by mail and then I come pick it up around the end of year. Would that work? You wil have to solder a new DIN4 plug on it for me though. Is that OK. If you wish, email me directly at "joris2 @ taononstop . com" (take out spaces of course.

After having a look at the a590 pictures at The Big Book of Amiga Hardware i think i could fix a broken one unless it's the WD33c93 chip or the 390563 chip that is broken, because i dont know where to get replacements. If the ROM chips are broken i can only fix those if somebody knows where to get the rom contents.

The WD33c93 is basically a single-chip SCSI Interface. Replacements are aroud, even pin compatible alternatives. Some even improve speed and compatibility.
The 390563IC is a C= made one, if you need one of those best bet would be to buy a defective or cheap A590 or 2091.
Yes, the 2091 is basically the same controller in different shape, you can use it to repair a 590.
