$50 for something that takes literally $5 in parts (in single quantity bought at RadioShack).  So is the Amiga way.  :-)

I wonder what good that wire is that "connects" to the power switch?
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I'd pay $50 if it were a direct replacement 300W ATX PSU, modded nicely to fit inside the original PSU's casing and all, and assuming that it all looks like nothing was changed from the original way. :-)

Hasn't he also labelled the picture wrong? The mobo label and the ATX label should be swapped.

Speaking of which....

Is there any demand for "modded" power supplies that fit an Amiga 4000 case? I've found a moderately inexpensive supply of "new" 250W AT power supplies and a supply of "plungers" so they literally stick right into your old A4000 PS and function exactly the same (the front power rod attaches to the plunger).

If I knew 4 or 5 people wanted them, I'd bother with it. But otherwise, it would be yet another $200+ science project on my workbench that ends up collecting dust. :-)

@CatHerder

I think there's probably a good market for such a beastie.  If it cost say $30.00 or so, I think people would buy them.  Replacement A4000 supplies cost $50.00+ for used units and they are only 145W or so.  Even if you didn't want to make the investment, if you could do a schematic or 'how to' guide on converting an AT to 4000 p/s, I for one would be thankful.  btw, I can't believe anyone would pay $50.00 for an ATX to 4000 adaptor like on eBay.

Looks like kensay needs to be slapped. LOL

Seriously though, how hard would it be to make one?

Catherder:  On those 4000 PS, would the original PS shell be needed or is it a direct replacement?

@ KD7HTH

Does that mean that a 4000D has a different mobo connector from a 4000T?

Because there's no way the part he calls the mobo connector can connect to my mobo, but the part he calls the ATX connector, can.

@TjLaZer

Looks like amiga_mania is having the last laugh ..er, cry

I think the problem with AT supplies in general is that the form factor of the pcb is much wider than the A4000's supply pcb, therefore you'd need a really small AT supply pcb or probably rotate one 90 degrees to make it fit in the original 4000 p/s box.

@X-ray

yeah, the desktop p/s connector is a relatively rare six pin jobbie, the tower m/b uses a different connector entirely, afaik
