WTB A1200 in Tower
« on: November 19, 2004, 06:25:55 PM »
Hey All.. First post here.. I am looking for an A1200 in a Tower case. I'd like to start using the amiga again! I had a 1200 a few years ago, as well as a 3000, 2000 and a 1000!

I've searched eBay and cant find anything, would someone be interested in trading for a NeXTstation, a PC or a PocketPC + Cash?

Ebay ...

Indeed, there are not many towers offered on Ebay at the moment. Seems to be a bad week for towers ...
But I guess a normal A1200 in desktop can take you also very far, let´s say an A1200 with PPC turboboard and Bvision 8 Mb gfx card and a 20 Gb 2,5" harddisc and a pcmcia scsi controller for external CDrom ...

@Effy:

If he were to try to do that, his A1200 would not stop singing: "Feelin' Hot! Hot! Hot!".

I have a feeling that he might be from Europe. If he's in N. America, then perhaps I could help him as I have a spare power tower 1200 with PC/Amiga keyboard adapter. Location: N. America - Canada - Ontario - Toronto. :-)

EDIT: Oh, he's from the U.S., I can see that now. :-)

x56h34 : I did say PPC but I didn´t say it had to be a 240 Mhz/68060  :lol: I have got a 160 Mhz PPC/68040 in my tower and it doesn´t warm up much so heat is not a big issue. And if you leave the trapdoor open en put the A1200 on four little feet, only a few mm high, then it won´t cause much problems.  :-)

@Effy

I believe the card you have produce more heat than a 240/68060. It's not a great idea to run a BlizzardPPC in a desktop case anyway, so I second x56h34 on this one.

Found one here: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=8142&item=5137721714&rd=1
Very expensive though, specially because it appears not to have a Zorro/PCI busboard!

@thread

Anyone interested in an A1200 in ElBox tower?

I'll post mine on AmiBench this afternoon. Got a mobo with KS3.1-ROMs and a hefty 4Gb HD connected to the mobo with a purpose-made cable. Has never been finished, so is actually brandnew and therefore comes in its own original corrugated cardboard box c/w Styropor protective filling. Anyone?
Where's that bloody fellah-with-the-green-'at, eh?

Have a look at AmiBench
