video toaster 2000
« on: November 18, 2004, 11:58:57 PM »
Hi there,

Was just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere to get a manual for one of these or a labelled diagram?  Google, for once, doesn't seem to have the answers.  I am reluctant to force it into my A4000 (or force bits of my A4000 to accept it) without some knid of idea of what I am doing!  I understand that the connections on the back are not 3 in 3 out but have no knowledge of what is what.

Can anyone help me?

Cheers.

From what I recall, you have to cut a chunk off the backplate on your A4000.

I'll go see if I can find my modified backplane to scan in and show you what I mean. Unless I'm confusing the personal animation recorder with the toaster... I know it was modified for something. :-)

This might take 5 or 10 mins to find, so be patient.  :-D

No your right. The toaster 2000 is a little larger than the 4000, in the back plane area. Had to do a small modification to my 3000 to get it to fit. Later they came up with the toaster cozy that fit moved the video slot to an external case with it's own ps.

Don't bother with the VT2000 going into an A4000. You won't get the full functions of the card. NewTek redesigned the VT4000 card to fit in the A4000 and work with AGA chipset. Would be much more benificial to install a VT4000 in the A4000, instead of hacking the A4000 case.

I had to hack the A3000Tower case to fit the VT2000 card as it was. Managed to obtain a used VT4000 to replace the VT2000 but the card doesn't want to sync video.

Just my 2 cents.

I have two of the Toaster 2000s and one Toaster 4000. I have yet to be able to get the Toaster 4000 to squeeze into my A4KD. I put it into my A4KT okay...the Toaster 2000 didn't even begin to squeeze into the A4KD and what would be the point of putting it into the tower? Now here's a question.... Does the 4.2-4.3 software for the Toaster 4000 operate the Toaster 2000 even mostly?? Because the two A2K machines I bought on ebay had each a Toaster but I doubt seriously that the hardware on the tiny leetle HDs is really capable of using the cards....besides which when I try to look at the software I get all kinds of problems, so I suspect the previous owner tried loading some of the software that would fit and then when the thing failed he sold the machines to an idiot (me) as fully functional. But if my Toaster 4K software can work on these puppies then I have not one, but 3 Toasters! (yay) Otherwise I will sell the Toasters without software real cheap and use the Supergen on the A2K machines.

Yes 4.2/4.3 Toaster software will run the VT2000 even without the Flyer Card.  Ya might want to install both 3.x and 4.x because there are some differences between the two.
Overall the 4.x software is better in that you can set up slide shows with different fades and image duration much easier.
