Info/ratting of VIPER 1260/56Mhz board from Vesalia
« on: November 16, 2004, 11:11:21 AM »
I am thinking of getting a Viper 1260/56MHz from Vesalia,
LINK TO VESALIA PAGE FOR VIPER 1260/56
and I wanted some info about it, is it a reliable card? I know some will say that blizzard is great, but I am interested in this one. Because it is new, and not on ebay  :pissed:
Will it work OK with my Amiga Technologies rev 10.4 motherboard (am I correct? or is this a Conmmodore era m/b? ) Anyone has it? Any info to share? I just want a reliable card...

btw, how the 1260/56 compares to 1240/40? Do they have a great speed difference? Because the 1240/40 price is nice   :-D

I don't have any info about the Viper 1260/56. But I can answer your compare question. A 060/56 Mhz uses lesser power than a 040/40MHz and it's about two times faster then a 040/40 MHz.

The only differences with an Blizzard 1260 are Optional Fast SCSI controller and can hold up to 128 MB SIMMs.

Don't forget to buy Oxypatcher to speed up the FPU instructions.

I misspelled the program wrong.

It's Oxyron Patcher. You can buy it from Vesalia for 19,95 Euro

@Keropi

Are you sure the revision of the board isn´t 1D.4? In that case it is a Commodore one... I don´t think there is a rev. 10.4 board at all...

Don´t know... I recall having heard that the 1D.4 doesn´t have some of the timing faults that exists on the 2B, but I have never comprehended how Commodore engineers actually managed to raise the revision number, and add more faults at the same time... :-)

Hmm, what about being able to disable the accelerator board with a keystroke? IIRC the Viper isn't capable of this....

Have never owned one, so can't help you out on this one. In the end, you know my point of view on which board to buy or not.

Well, then a 060 would be a waste. (But then again, a 060 in your miggy will drive you to use it in many more ways ;-))

If it's just whdload games, I think you'll find that a 030 will be a more cheap/stable/compatible solution.
Anyway is the only way

lol, I need more power!  :-D  plus I got some euros to spend on "thingies" plus when the becomes fast enough, there is a great possibility to start using it more seriously... maybe I'll add after a 060 somekind of RTG...

take a look HERE

and pay attention about the SIMMs type:

The only working SIMM is a FPM 1K refresh
