Don't take me wrong but developing and selling a TV based on a $1000 m/b, that has no OS, no software and no IDE controller that works is just plain ridiculous. Especially when you (as you suggest) plan to sell it for a mere 100% profit. Importantly, the A1 has no support for TV-cards: you'll be selling a TV that has no TV support... :lol:
You could have a unique marketing line:
"Watch TV when it's done!" (TM)
I imagine people will flock to buy a TV based on a prototype m/b and a beta os for less than $3000 - investors will certainly go mad about it...I can see a million dollars flying your way! :lol:
What about buying $50 el-cheapo TVs off WalMart, rebadge them into "AmiTV-MK1" and then re-sell them for $2500? This project has certainly a much greater probability of success - this is the only scenario I can envisage where you could at least come up with a working prototype...It is also a business model that has proved popular in the amiga world in the last few years - before you know it you may find yourself giving presentations in China (in the factory that actually made these TVs)!
Seriously though, for the sake of argument, let's assume for a second (improbable as it may be) that two years down the line you've come up with your 1.5 million dollars you've hired software and hardware engineers to do the job and a prototype is finally ready - you'll be then in a position to market a 6-year old plus media centre computer against whatever market alternative will be then on offer for less than $300...my point; do something better with your time
