Yes, but by reverse logic they may not have a website because they have something worth hiding.
When did you put up the cash to by Amiga Inc and OS4?....Oh right, you didn't. If anyone could do it, then why didn't they. Give'em a chance. They aren't ready to announce anything, but they must be dying to say something. No one just sits on something and waits.

1- Congratulation for you energy in this project.
2- I suggeto so contatc KMOS or Eyetech
3- I think that this case can take a microatx also

This project is a good thing, but maybe it is too early for it. Why don't team up with Project reality team and do something togheter? Anyway good luck.

And how exactly do you propose to raise that?

Is it just me or do projects like this just sound too much like pipedreams?

Sorry to put it so bluntly but I don't believe it will ever happen unless you already have that much in personal finance and are dedicated enough to blow it on this project. It absolutely makes no business sense at all.

You are welcome to prove me wrong though.

>But wouldn't they expect it to be nearer $299... and beable to run lots of software?

Depends. Most people doing such things I know about are using MythTV. I'm one of them, using bog-standard PC stuff, and I've still easily spend about what his price range is, and am likely to spend even more on it. (Better case as I'm not happy with the Antec Overture one, more TV tuners with hardware MPEG encode, more hard drives, HDTV tuner, some sort of HDTV output card or SVGA/HDTV converter...)

Your $300 price, I spent more than that on hard drives alone. But I'm crazier than some. :)

Didn't you see the PayPal donate now button on the webpage?

Although I think that it's nice to see innovation in the community, at least find a product that people actually want.  And a $2500 smart TV aint that.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Don't take me wrong but developing and selling a TV based on a $1000 m/b, that has no OS, no software and no IDE controller that works is just plain ridiculous. Especially when you (as you suggest) plan to sell it for a mere 100% profit. Importantly, the A1 has no support for TV-cards: you'll be selling a TV that has no TV support...

You could have a unique marketing line:

"Watch TV when it's done!" (TM)

I imagine people will flock to buy a TV based on a prototype m/b and a beta os for less than $3000 - investors will certainly go mad about it...I can see a million dollars flying your way!

What about buying $50 el-cheapo TVs off WalMart, rebadge them into "AmiTV-MK1" and then re-sell them for $2500? This project has certainly a much greater probability of success - this is the only scenario I can envisage where you could at least come up with a working prototype...It is also a business model that has proved popular in the amiga world in the last few years - before you know it you may find yourself giving presentations in China (in the factory that actually made these TVs)! :P

Seriously though, for the sake of argument, let's assume for a second (improbable as it may be) that two years down the line you've come up with your 1.5 million dollars you've hired software and hardware engineers to do the job and a prototype is finally ready - you'll be then in a position to market a 6-year old plus media centre computer against whatever market alternative will be then on offer for less than $300...my point; do something better with your time

Well to be honest i would not buy anything with a tv card in to use as a real tv as the tv card in my computer has a very poor output compared to a real crt tv.

[sarcasm]
Wow ! Is it as easy as that? If I just stick a dream specification on a freeservers static webpage and also include a paypal button I too can get $ 1.5 Million ? :-o  :-o  :-?

Now why didn't I think of that before.
[/sarcasm]

I don't know the true intentions of those involved but if they know anything about the Amiga community and its history they would steer clear of anything that bears the hallmarks of a classic scam. The community has been hardened as a result of all the scams, vapourwar and false promises to the extent that they would probably not even donate $50 dollars to any Amiga project even if the Queen herself   endorsed it.

Harsh reality.
