Ralph Babel Guru Rom Available !
« on: November 11, 2004, 03:52:46 AM »
This is a direct quote from Ralph Babel on C.S.A.H.

"I have made available - among other things - a
1.x-compatible CD filesystem, Guru ROM images,
GVP drivers, and documentation under ..."

  http://babel.org/amiga/

I hope it was alright to post it here.
Thank You Ralph!

I was just about to post a message about this :-)

The CDFS is compatible with Kickstart 1.3, which a few people have been asking about recently.

Anyone who uses GVP boards should check out this collection of goodies.

Does anyone have a picture of the small adaptor-pcb required for a ROM/EPROM/EEPROM/FlashROM containing the Guru-ROM image to be usuable?

I was just about to start a new thread for this very reason. But I'll re-ask the question here instead. nybody got any info on the adapter board? pictures, schematics, manual, blow by blow description on how to make one :) anything would be a help.

Patrik did you have any luck finding anything?

Hope someone can help

And you most likely never will.

One common technique people use to get free stuff is to offer to fix or upgrade/modify things for free or minimal cost.

Tip:
when you send people things, you might not get them back...

@AdMartin:

I have been busy with my studies for a couple of months and haven't been arsed to do much at all except that. Though, I have read the programming with two different readers, but it seems like the security cell was set when it was programmed as the result I get is that all outputs always should be ones - which would not make a very useful circuit.

@koaftder:

No, I will definately keep the adapter for myself and never let Martin see the light of it again - *mohahaha!, evil laughter, etc*

I've been thinking about this one.... I wonder if it would be possible to use the aminet kickram hack to burn the firmware into an eeprom instead od a kickstart image... then take that eeprom and make the proper adapter... get the address lines and 8 data lines from one EPROM socket, then pick up the other 8 from the other socket. It seems doable, but I haven't been able to try it.

As far as just splitting the file, it's too big.  You probably already realized that:-).  The A2091 eprom files are 8k each (2) and the Guru Rom for the A2091 is 32k, so the need for the additional address space.

Speaking as someone who actually had this and sold it, I wouldn't actually go to too much trouble to get it working.  My 2000 is much happier with the SCSI controller built in to my Blizzard 2040.  The Guru/A2091 combo wasn't completely without trouble as I remember. In my opinion locating a better controller would be a more efficient use of one's resources, unless you are just doing it for the sake of the project:-D YMMV.
