Octamed development resumed!
« on: February 13, 2003, 08:00:49 PM »
After ages of waiting, development has been handed over to Gerd Frank - see the Octamed Amiga page for more info.  If development does get back on track (and no one says that it will) I hope that they will eventually release an OS4 build.

I really hope this happens. Octamed is one
of my favorite amiga apps.  I would buy an Amiga one if they made a OS 4 version

Nice news :) I was sure a good program had died untill this post. It should be in the news listings imho.

But one thing scares me, no mention of AHI support. It has to use AHI dosent it? Please someone tell me its going to use AHI. *nervous twitching* :)

I've just submitted it as news.

As for AHI, I noticed this in the checkpoints page:

Quote
doing drivers for all available soundboards or forcing people to do so (each of them requires audio and CAMD support)

If individual drivers are needed, I guess that they are not using AHI :-(

The old V2 demo had AHI support, as well as specialised drivers for most cards.  Maybe this version will be the same?

Finally, I get to say stuff, Safari kept quiting every time I tried to enter this thread. maybe it was trying to stop me ranting :ranting:

They have at least made the first version available as freeware, which is nice. Now I just gotta figure uot a way to get it running on MacUAE. :-D

I'm stuck with PlayerPro until then. :-(

OctaMED Soundstudio v1.03 has been freeware for ages.  I thought it had been uploaded to Aminet, but I can only find an old v2 Beta/demo

I sure wish a OS4 version comes out! using Ocamed, i discoverd the virtues of A os. before that my migg was "just a game machine" to me.  I would like to say what goes well to enhance innovative/imaginative creativity along with it but i dont want this to be my last post...

I was gonna post a new thread saying "Does anyone know where I can find OctaMED?" I've only just got back into the Amiga after 12 years, and was wondering if there were any recent freeware versions. (I remember OctaMED cost money at the end, after v3.0????). I've still got MED v1.0 somewhere I think!!
I'll try Aminet then...
I like Amigas

OctaMED was, and still is, the main reason I even *have* an amiga. At all.
I for one will be absolutely delighted if a version is released for OS4.
However, after the previous fiasco, I won't be holding my breath.

I might cross my fingers though. :-D

Here's hoping! :pint:

You all know my feelings on the subject, Octamed simply must not be allowed to die!

Its an integral part of the Amiga, one of the most important apps ever released for the platform.  I hope we see an OS4 PPC native version.
