A little late, but here's my 2 bits:

On my workstation
1.  Solaris 9
2.  It works better than any alternative on my UltraSparc, plus it has never chrashed on me, and has a nice array of software.
3.  Not unless I get a nice, new fast machine.

On my laptop
1.  Windows NT4 and NetBSD
2.  NetBSD is rock solid, and has not yet failed me.  NT4 is great when you need Windows compatability.  Doesn't crash as much as Windows 9x, and still runs nicely on my lowend hardware (P266, 64 MB).
3.  I might switch to Linux.  I'm not really sure ATM.  Linux does much better on Laptops for hotswapping, &c.

I'd love to be able to ditch all these in favor of an AmigaOne, Pegasus, or an upgraded A4kT, but I'm broke.

1) Windows 2000.

2) Stable, does what I need for graphics editing, and lets me use Linux software (like Perl, PHP, Apache, Firefox) without all the command prompt and scattered filesystem nonsense.  User interface is less configurable but easier to navigate than KDE.  It allows me to upgrade whenever I want, since I'm not locked down with proprietary hardware, like the Mac.  I do have a Linux box that I keep up to date, just in case those Linux guys stop sucking at writing interfaces, but so far I have found no use for Linux.

3) No.  I'd rather die than get XP.  Then again, I'll be working on getting my MCSE soon, so I'll have to upgrade sooner or later.

1. AmigaOS3.9

2. Because i own it, it does (nearly) everything i would ever need to do, and because the cost of buying another computer is not justified by the small amount of extra useability i would gain.

3. Possibly PocketPC, or maybe a symbian phone, but only in addition to the amiga, not in place of it :)

1. OS4 pre-release (have an old pc that has been turned on 3-4 times since I got the pre-release, mainly to use home banking which needs JAVA).

2. Because its the best available OS for my A1 ;) Having used AmigaOS since '88 it feels like the natural choice. I have used other OS' aswell but always missed my Amiga when I sat in front of an Winblows machine.

My next computer will be an... Amiga. Whether it will be the MicroA1-I, or a next generation machine I still don't know. That will depend a little on software availability (seems we wont have a decent browser when the MicroA1-I is released, so my parents wont have much use for my A1-XE yet).

2. Why?

Because my home PC is primarily a gaming machine, but also runs WinUAE and other programs.  I should say that Amiga OS3.9 is my SECOND most used OS (even though it's emulated) and Windows 98 is a necessity at work (spit).  XP isn't bad, but I find my home machine requires endless tweaking and fiddling about to run at peak efficiency.  Amiga OS is simpler to maintain by comparison.

3. Are you conidering switching to a different OS?

Considering?  Why not?

I like the thought of running OS4 on one of those microATX Amiga One systems, but expense may count against it despite the fact that Amiga is pretty much my favorite OS to use.  Unfortunately, Win XP / 98 is a prerequisite for work so something other than MS is simply not a realistic proposition for my profession.  I'd like to try AROS too, just to see if it's a viable way of keeping the Amiga "feel" alive on a modern machine at a low cost.

1) Main OS:
Work:  Solaris 9  and  Win2k
Home:  Win2k and Solaris 9 and Mac OS9.2

2) Using Win2k (upgrading it to XP) for basic stuff-- compatability with Work.   The Solaris because that works the best on my Sun Workstation -- plus there are some advantages to it for some development work I do.   Mac OS 9.2  cause my wife won't let me upgrade her computer to 10.3  lol

3)  No --The Sun Workstations will stay with Solaris.
Yes -- on my Intel boxes will go Win XP with a Dual boot into Debian Linix .
One of the reasons for the XP and linix to to use one of the UAE -- yes reading all this about Amiga has got me very interested  in trying out the A3.9 or A4.0 (if it is ever released). I am possibly interested in taking a plunge and getting an AmigaOne at some point .

I like the Idea of Alternatives, -- seems the world is divided into a binary choice on small and mid-tier computing --  MS  and Unix (OSX falls into this being a variant on FreeBDS and Nextstep).
I like the idea that the Amiga kernal and Morph kernal are small, efficient with some nice features -- I also like the dedicated community of users.
That says a lot for the product .

1. WinXP
2. Runs well, does what I need, and I honestly cannot flaw it.
3. Would like to see linux make a big move into the desktop market, but I doubt that will happen in the near future, so no.

1. Windows XP/98 (gotta have both to do what I want)
2. Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 and Wing Commander series. (Not to mention providing network and display services to my Atari ST, Amiga, Atari XL, and Mac. Ever hooked up a Commodore 64 or Atari XL to a TV Wonder VE card for a 19" VGA display? Nice!)
3. Every time I say I will never switch, I do. Still love to use my Atari ST and looking forward to learning my Amiga 4000D.
Any obstacle can be an opportunity, try a different perspective.
