Damn, that's good!

You can't beat a good snack when working on code. For those of you who may recall the "favourite programming music", I ask, what's your favourite programming snack?

@ Karlos

I couldn't program a VCR, but in terms of 'motivation food' that granary + marmalade is going to be difficult to beat...

but not impossible. I have two offerings, one sweet and one savoury, for when I raytrace:

1) good old-fashioned stick liquorice
2) a tough piece of biltong: kudu or ostrich will do

Just gotta be careful, because when gobbing a piece of (1) at the screen in frustration it will stick like a grolly on a mirror. Better to gob (2): better ballistics anyway  :-P

I can't program anything past a C64;-) But I do know my snacks. Favorite? That's a hard one. One of the more creative ones?

mmMmMmmmmm... green apple slices smothered in peanut butter... yum :-D

When I'm programming?
I eat nothing, I drink water or coffee,
and not I'm listening to music then.
My music is very intense, and I listen very carefully to it, I won't do anything besides it.
When I eat, I eat good and tastefull, and I won't listen to music while I'm eating.

I am very intense, but I am quite easily distracted. When I'm programming, I usually do not stop until the early hours, completely exhausted :-)

I know this sounds sick and perverted, but my fave snack at the moment is a chunky peanut butter sandwich dipped into a cup of my special "wake the dead" strength coffee.
On schedule, and suing

@speel

I can't do any kind of coding (or anything that requires using ones noggin) for protracted periods without eating :-)

@Red

That's.... different :lol: I might have to try that one!

@X-Ray

So what is ostrich like, anyway? Never tried it :-)

@doobrey

I know what you mean. That my espresso machine still works is a miracle after the workload it has had!

As for the toast n' marmalade, I feel round 2 coming on :-)

Sadly I'm not the programming type, but when I'm sitting there plodding along in front of a machine, I prefer a cold beer or a glass of scotch. However, I have been known to indulge in two thick slices of Vienna bread smothered with strawberry jam and thick sweatened double cream, devilishly sickly, but very satisfying indeed. I also enjoy some of the missus's traditional sweets (baklava, taloumba etc. etc.) along with a tall glass of milk. Damn, now I'm hungry.

Granary bread, sliced mushrooms fried gently in butter, garnished with herbs and covered with finely grated mild cheddar cheese...

Or if I'm really hungry then grilled chicken pieces in pitta bread with salad and chilli sauce hits the spot - usually if accompanied with several pints of Bombardier Ale.

@ Jefferson MacBetamax

Before you die, you gotta try ostrich. Not necessarily biltong, but a nice steak. It is without doubt the finest meat I have ever had (although crocodile is almost on a par).
Unfortunately I don't think you'll get it properly prepared anywhere other than SA. But if you're ever in the Drakensberg, an ostrich steak is a must. It actually looks like a red steak, not like turkey (which is what I thought it would be like). It is closer to beef than poultry, but is much better in terms of texture and taste.

I highly recommend it!! It doesn't have to be a green apple, as long as it's a large juicy ripe apple, green is just my favorite. Use a high grade REAL peanut butter, not some over processed crap pumped full of sugar.

Try it, you will be amazed:-D

@Red,

Bah, it seems the peanut butter I can see here is all of the over processed pumped full of sugar crap variety :-/
