SCSI compatibility
« on: February 13, 2003, 02:31:48 PM »
I'm thinking of buying a SCSI kit for a Blizzard 060 but want to know if it will work with
an Ultra-Wide SCSI-3 Hard disk I already have. I don't
expect SCSI-3 performance but will it work at least
as well as SCSI-2 which I presume the Blizzard kit is? And is this preferable to having a hard disk running from the standard A1200 IDE interface.
Answers on a postcard please...Thanks

A1200 desktop, Blizzard 1260, OS3.9BB2, Indivision Mk II, SCSI Jaz, Ethernet
A1200 desktop, Blizzard 1230, OS3.1, Ethernet
A500, OS1.3

The A1200's built in IDE interface runs at PIO 0, it's ####-slow.

You will be able to use your SCSI-3 disk with a blizzard SCSI kit, but you'll need an adaptor to convert it down to SCSI-2 (I think).

Anyhow, I wish you luck trying to find a blizzard SCSI kit for a reasonable price, last offer I was given was £50 from some dude off amibench, so I bought a PowerFlyer Gold for £20. But I'm still looking for a reasonably priced blizzard SCSI kit, so you'll have some competition when looking for one.  :-D

oh yeh golem, I noticed you live in Notts.  Used to live there myself, there used to be a little backstreet Amiga second hand shop on forest road near the cemetry in town, have a look and stt if it still exists.

Lorddef I know the one you mean. TechExchange - used to be quite good to have a dedicated Amiga shop in the same city you live in. Bought a second
hand 500+ with harddisk there but it closed down
quite a while back now. Thanks for the info. :-D
