Almost ready to give up on Amigas, again.
« on: October 01, 2004, 06:47:13 AM »
Subject sez it all.      sigh.
I have been trying to resurrect the machines, but all I seem to do is botch them up even more than they already are...  I guess I lack the patience to mess with electronics.   Even funked up my Playstation2 while cleaning the drive lens...   Time to sort out the remaining good stuff and sell it off. Take the rest of the junk to the dumps. I use to really enjoy computing with Amigas. The video and 3D aspects of it were very enjoyable. Now I'm just disgusted with the whole "old computer" thing. Major waste of time and money. Unless some one can fix my A3000Tower/Toaster mobo for cheap. Can't even begin to describe the problems I have created just trying to replace the friggin' batteries.

Please tell me you didn't just wipe the lens with a cloth...?

Time to move on, T3000. There's no sense in kicking a dead horse. And don't forget, while your Amigas are next-to-dead, noone can take away your memories of using them.
Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.

I think you should stay away from electronics you sound like a dissaster and playstations are known for faulty lasers so it could be faulty before you touched it i assume it only reads certain discs if so a new laser might be the solution.
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

Get a friendly fellow enthusiast to help you out maybe?

If you DO get rid of the bits, make sure you get what they're worth - remember Amiga stuff holds its value quite well :-)
I like Amigas

That's true. I feel that no Amiga parts should ever end up in a dump, as there's always some hope of someone being able to repair them.

Have you tried contacting Softhut or Mr. Hardware? I think they do Amiga repairs.
