Y'know, "Return Of The Jedi," at least the Tatooine scenes, were filmed about 20 miles from my house.  I was an extra in it, but was always out-of-frame in the finished product (haven't seen the newly re-cut DVD yet.)  In order to keep the tourists at bay, it was announced that Richard Marquand was filming a low budget sci-fi knockoff called "Dark Harvest"  Everyone on set was wearing "Dark Harvest" tee-shirts, caps, jackets.  It was a deliberate deception, maintained to keep people from noticing what was really going on.  (Of course, the constand presence of R2-D2 and C3PO gave it away right off.)

Hey, what does KMOS stand for, anyway?  And how much do you think they might have to do to "stay under the radar?"

Just a question.

Where does it say KMOS had kmos.com in the first place?  The WhoIs record just says the domain is locked.  Besides, why try to get kmos.com when they already control Amiga.com?

I do find it odd that they didn't at least reserve the domain.  I mean, it's not like it costs a fortune.  I have my own domain and I'm basicly non-profit.

I wondered about that too, but Google turned up Garry Hare's interview at Amigaworld.net, where he said they were receiving mail at Information@kmos.com. So this either confirms they had/have the domain, or he was, uh, confused in his interview.

It would have been equally hilarious if it was some other pegasosppc.com or some other big player in the market that lost their domain.

If it was one of the one-man amiga dealers or hardware companies, I´m sure the comments would have been of a different nature.

@KennyR

Oh! My sides hurt, tell me are you and Realize Available as a double act? You know, I set em up, you knock 'em down?

If so, how would you both like to appear at BB2?

I am sure we could come to some arrangements, we could do with  some light entertainment.

Please get back to me

Thanks

Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,
Bring me Laughter, all the while,
In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow,

Make me happy, through the years,
Never bring me, any tears,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

I haven't been here in a while, but I just had to post because this thread is side-splitting!!

Seriously, some of you have gone so far you've become caricature.  You should seriously consider taking it on the road, you'd get full houses.

If memory serves they also had a logo, but don't quote on me on that.

Well I will anyway.  The logo you mention was in fact an avatar made by me for AW not long after the announcement, which had the sole purpose of annoying those who take things far too seriously and make the Amiga "community" a less enjoyable experience.

This is the same logo that seemingly annoyed you when you posted on AW as the enlightener, calling me a retard, remember?  It seems to have worked. :-D

i see less cynicism and more emotion here.

since KMOS had no interest in having a web presence, there isn't a big deal. I guess some companies can actually do business without spreading alot of garbage online.

dealers affect us (amiga users) personally. so, YES, THAT is a big deal. note the news item on the loss of aminet in the US. As far as I'm concerned, what happens to Aminet is a billion times more important to the real world than KMOS not having a dumb web site.

why even bother whats going on?  I just sit back not caring what happens w/Amiga (or any other part of it) or the Pegasos.  Just sit back and wait to see who comes up with new hardware/sofware etc.  That way if nothing comes out of it you wont be disappointed because you never expected anything anyway.  Just the way I see it.. (I'm sticking w/my Amiga classics anyway until someone has actually proven something and has some DECENT, REAL software).

P.S.  dont let this thread get out of hand as we all know it'll just turn into a flame fest.  Be good.

Let's see, you go to the trouble of making a logo of a company you know nothing about, nothing about how it got Amiga, and only found out that Amiga had been sold to them almost a year later over a vague statement. Yet you still idolise them like its next year's lightsabre craze. What do you want, a Nobel Prize? Why don't you go back to censorship world and take Mikey_C with you before he's writing to every moderator here trying to get this thread deleted, seeing how he's such a powerful advocate for free speech, and all.

Whereas, you are a conscienscous person who has no political agenda and tolerates different views? :) Tell me, Mikey, are you part of one of the few active Amiga usergroups who still actually do something for the community? If you are, feel free to lecture me. If not, go back to censoring.

I could imagine doing cabaret for you Mikey - only to have the microphone switched off and you making frantic hand signals to security if I do something you don't like.
