WHDLOAD and Game Install Disks....
« on: September 28, 2004, 09:13:35 AM »
Well, I have read in the WHDLOAD homepage that the installers only work with original disks... Is this absolutelly true? When using a game disk created from the TOSEC archive, whdload will not work? Anyone tried that?

If the loader is cracked/altered, then the HDLoader will not patch correctly the disk-image and it will be useless.

It's not about protecting anything - supporting a crack requires additional work. On top of that, a crack might be buggy, incomplete or hacked (title pic changed to include the cracker's initials etc.).

well there is a way around it... you can emulate a hdsetup and install from an .ipf file... but I'll leave that up to you.

Sigh... a TOSEC leecher calling the WHDLoad team lame - how lame is *that* ->>>> Perhaps you know of some disks that survive over time???? I got ~40 original games with my a1200 from e-bay, and only 6 are working ok.... what is the point of only creating installs for original disks, if u cannot find them at the first place? If u have them and they are dead, the game is over... This is 2004, not 1994... I am not saying the team is lame, they are great, but kinda useless if only supporting original disks...

You can find information about the CAPS-project and the .ipf file format here:
