Marantz
« on: September 26, 2004, 11:15:42 AM »
Hey all just wondered if anyone here has any experience with Hi-fi and gubbins from Marantz, just wanted to see if anyone else is having problems like mine, just this morning my 3rd replacement DVD player from them has gone wrong, it's still in warranty though  :-D

I have of a couple of friends who like their CD players.
I have Arcam stuff myself. Buy British! ;-)

If you're having problems like that with a company, its time to see if you can get some kind of freebies off them.
Don't know if its your thing, but some well placed phonecalls or a letter, saying how you 'expect more from a professional company' yadda yadda, 'do not have time to chase them' because THEIR product is faulty, point out any cost to you, even if its just the odd phonecall, driving to the PO or courier with the DVD, really play up the inconvenience. At the very least you should get an apology, with a bit of luck they'll replace it with a higher spec model, etc etc.

If they don't even give you the apology, take your business elsewhere...
I like Amigas

Marantz generally has high quality Amps and CD-players, but doesn't compare to Arcam (Arcam is something between hi-fi & high-end?! :-) ).

@Robert17
I had same troubles with Phillips hardware, and it's very frustrating... I'm wishing you good luck.

I've been quite satisfied with my 48EUR (displayless) Yamakawa DVD-215 so far. It's a no frills thing but does exactly what it should :).

Anyone knows how to play super audio dvd's on the pc (is there any software/hardware support for it, yeah, I know I'll need a 24 bit soundcard)?
I got an excellent 2nd hand Denon amplifier, so I wanna hear some good sound from it :-)

I hold Marantz stuff in very high regard, there Amp's and more so there CD-players are probably the best around, of very high build and Audio quality.

I have a Marantz CD-48 CD player, still going strong. Got it partnered with a Yamaha DSP Amp and Tannoy Mercury 2.5 speakers
