Reading Amiga HD on PC?
« on: September 19, 2004, 06:43:48 AM »
I need to know how to read my Amiga HD on the PC (win 2000 pro) and how to format a Win formatted HD on an Amiga....any takers?

The PC Hardware manager program finds my Amiga drive and gives correct version number and size, but i cant access it, nor does it give me an icon for it so i can open it.....

When I try to read/format a Windows formatted HD on my Amiga it doesnt find any info about the HD nor give it a icon/NDOS...

Easy.

Install WinUAE and register the harddrive in the config, get yourself a suitable kickstart image, set the rest of the config (mem size, CPU model) and boot it.

You can also register windows directories into the emulation, so then you can just copy what you need over to the windows side in the emulation.

Oh yeah it's dead easy to do. My Dad and I recently recovered tons of old music files he had created years ago and some art from when I was a child of of our old hard disks out of my A4000 and his A1200. Lots of memories saved from certain destruction. Just hooked it up, Windows seemed to just ignore the drives. WinUAE found them without a problem. It really was a lot of fun seeing my drawings from when I was young and listening to music I hadn't heard in ages.
