Shadow Of The Beast
« on: September 13, 2004, 03:56:12 PM »
I am having a bit of a problem with Shadow of the Beast on WinUAE (latest version and older versions). It loads up from disc 1...asks for disc 2...everyhting is fine at first, but when I get into the game I can only take a few steps in either direction before it locks, followed by the flashing red error message. I have tried ADFs of it from two different locations but i cannot get it to work, any ideas?

I get that exact problem when playing it from disk on my A1200 (with and without an accel).  I think it's got something to do with CIA timing?

Try it in WinUAE as an A500 with only 512k RAM.

I wouldn't use anything higher than kickstart 1.3 with the
emulation.  Also turn all the settings to the highest
compatibility possible.  I don't remember the exact
parameters, but basically any setting that usually has a
performance hit.

Just get the WHDLoad and use that in WinUAE, works great! Isn't the WHDLoad freeware now?  pmail me if you want it.

WHDload is not freeware.  You may download a "free" demo,
but the full version is $20.  Check the WHDload homepage
for registration info.
