The Ultimate "God i miss the 80`s" thread
« on: September 10, 2004, 02:51:08 PM »
Hi!

Hopefully other people than me, who grow up in the 80`s, are missing those good old happy days, when everything was new and mysterious, and exciting.

The walkman became popular, the C64 and amiga became popular,
everyone listened to either rock, punk, or rick astley :-D

Everyone had funny hair (it was cool back then), especially if you had a curly hockeycut :-o

So post pictures of things and gadgets you associate with the 80`s and tell something about it(things that you owned are preferable)

Im gonna start:

Who didn`t saw the cosby show at that time, everyone did it seemed:

I think i saw every episode of ALF that was made:

Never get tired of watching this movie:

Every guy had a samantha fox poster on the wall as a teenager :-D

This one says it all:

"...the shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist..."

Not just Knight Rider, but vehicle-themed and mechanised heroes in general:

Airwolf
Blue Thunder
Robocop
Streethawk

..and all the animated classics too....

@Cyberus:

Ditto. Man, I miss the days of Speccy. It was so fun to load and play all those games. True, the loading times were long by todays standards, but just looking at those loading colours and pictures was so cool. :-)
I'll never forget the games like Jet Set Willy, Manic Miner, Pssssst!, Jet-Pac, Boulder Dash, etc., etc., etc. :-)

Much of the 80's sucked, but much of it was great too. A mixed bag.

What I miss(short list).
80's chicks - tight jeans, big hair, loose morals (in theory)
80's metal - not hair metal, real metal like Slayer, Venom etc
80's metal dress - denim jackets with patches, acid wash jeans, high tops, long hair;-)
Commodore

What I don't miss(short list)
80's chicks - Wouldn't give me the time of day
80's hair metal
Snorks, My Little Pony, Punk Brewster etc
The Red Threat
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Image overload follows:

Oh and I miss not having been born earlier. I was born in '80 and really would've liked to experience the 80s with a full consciousness.

@ Odin:

Now you're bringing back memories!! How could I forget Yar's Revenge, Planet Patrol and Demon Attack on the Atari?

And V was great. I remember perving over June Chadwick as a young teen.

I don't miss the 80s. For me that was a time when my dad worked overtime seven days a week and we still had no money, and everyone was unemployed, and the miner's strikes, and Thatcher, and the Falklands, and people getting electricity cards because they couldn't pay the bills... Those were hard, hard times. They might have been the heyday of the C64 and the Amiga, but not much point if I couldn't afford either.

You have to put a downer on everything don't you!

The legacy of Thatcher is still with us today, and it isn't nice. But the thread was about happy memories of the eighties.
