Without in any way wanting to trivialise the threat to women, people seem to forget - men are also at risk. When I was at university in London, there was a spate of cases of men being raped. It isn't just a female phenomenon.

Its the same with assault - women worry about walking home alone late at night, but men are 5 times (IIRC) more likely to be attacked.
My experience of late night post pub brawls is that even some of the nastiest, ugliest brutes wouldn't think of hitting a woman, yet they'd happily keep kicking you when you're lying on the ground helpless.

Totally, totally OT, but I just thought it was funny:

Back in my uni days, and about 3 years ago, there was a mix up with the grants agency so that many students got their grants late. So the student union put together free 'emergency packages' to help those with no grant get past the worst times. The first funny part is that this was shown on TV, with heavily made-up, jewellery wearing, but 'obviously starving' students picking up the packages in their Versache T-shirts and jeans. Oh, the poverty.

Second funny part was the contents of the emergency package. A friend got one by pretending his grant hadn't come in (yes, I did have friends, but be assured they were as dark and twisted as I am). So we got to see the contents of the package.

From memory, it contained:

- Two packets of condoms
- Two packet of Rizla (cigarette papers)
- A handful of club fliers
- One packet of supernoodles

No prizes in guessing what the emphasis was here then. :)

Rohypnol has probably been around my uni, but I would be surprised if they knew about it. Getting obscenely drunk, getting shagged, and not remembering a thing about it was practically a way of life for most, long before rohypnol.

I don't understand the motives behind distributing such a misinformed e-mail. Especially since it seems to suggest rohypnol is a rare, potential threat when it's been in heavy use since the late nineties, IIRC.

The way to spot a dodgy e-mail "pass this along to your friends." Chain mail and e-mail pass more disinformation than Fox.

This one has been around since '99 IIRC.

Some guy probably wanted to rape her, and she didn't trust the drink so she passed it on to me.
:pissed:

And - have *YOU* been raped instead?
How was it?
(I've always been curious how it feels (if possble at all)when a man gets raped (by a woman)...)
:-D :-?

Better yet, drink coffee instead:-D

Well - everytime I visit the Netherlands I visit one of their famous coffee shops (but not to drink coffee, hehe :-D )
Too much coffeine is dangerous to my heart and prevents me from sleeping during the night...

Um.. no.. :nervous:

I've heard that such things have happened, so I won't make light of it. But no, luckily no such thing occured.

Male rape is worryingly on the increase and tends to not be taken seriously in society, so the resulting psychological damage can be appalling.  It's no laughing matter at all.

Females raping males isn't unheard of.  There was a publicised case a few years back of this happening.  Non-consentual sex is still non-consentual sex, and can be an act of both extreme physical and emotional violence.

Having known a few close female friends who've had some awful experiences it's something I don't find amusing in the slightest.

The closest I've ever come to that is "Reluctant" sex. (Using the term "reluctant" loosely!)

Women in monogamous relationships are always reluctant. That's just how they are. :)

They are?

If they're in monogamous relationships with someone else then their reluctance is wholly understandable....

Well - the first part was meant to be kind of joke:

The second part
Quote

Dandy wrote:

:-D :-?

was more meant as a serious question, as I really have difficulties to believe that a male can have an erection if he *REALLY* does not want to have one.
From my own experiences I can say that a woman can do what she likes - I don't get an erection if I *really* don't want to get one!
Or the other way round:
If I get an erection, then - at least deep inside me - I want it!
So it appears to me that it should be impossible to rape a male (at least from my own experiences)!
All the best,

Dandy

You don't have to have sexual intercourse to abuse someone sexually. Also, various drugs can be used to lower the inhibitions of the person in question. That's still rape.

I know I've had an erection when I didn't really want one! Also other "statutory rape" charges might apply if the male is young or the female is in a position of trust, etc.

Actual penetrative sex doesn't need to take place to qualify as a sexual assault.  There was a case in an office where a junior male member of staff successfully brought charges against senior female staff members who's abuse was more emotional than physical.

I was outraged when Carole Malone of the Daily Mirror wrote in her column about the case justifying female sexual assault on males as "maybe it's payback time?".  I've refused to buy the paper ever since.  If the piece had been written by a male journalist about a female sexual assault victim he'd have been publically flogged.
