Life is good in my little corner of AmigaLand
« on: September 10, 2004, 03:43:15 AM »
Ahhhh, life is good. I finaly got my MegaChip 2000 repaired and working, nice to have 2meg Chip on my 2000, and I started using WHDLoad Now I can stop turning my machine on and off to switch ROMs and CPUs to get my games to work. It's nice to be able to play Lemmings and CannonFodder (2 of my favorite games) from the HD, without even having to reboot. I just have to learn to write modules so I can install some of my games I couldn't find modules for.

Ahhhh, life is good.

Ahhh nothing like a nice purrrring Amiga computer huh?

I also would like to learn how to do WHDLoad installs.  I have done some hack installs by using a different installer for a different game and it works. lol  I made a Mach3 install.

Ahh...Cannon Fodder, such a cool game, and its intro is pretty good too, used to spend hours and hours playing that. Might have to look into WHDLoad, although a couple of people have told me its a tad bit tricky, I wonder how it would go with a game like Pinball Fantasies where you get a different menu for each of the course disks.

I used to struggle a floppy based system with my plain vanilla A500. Since the A1200 and HDD, life is good. It got better when I had my IDEFix. :-D

WHDload made it much better to insatll all them games floppy based. Cheers!! :pint:

What do you know it's Friday too.. :pint:

Hey all

I also have been a bit daunted by the WHDLoad docs, and VERY daunted by the authors comment that it's only really possible to do 25 installs a year!

I'm a 'competent' programmer though, with a definate interest to get some of my classics loadable - especially those originals that can't be copied floppy to floppy.  If I pull any miracles Amiga.org will be the first to know

I would really like to be able see a WHDInstall for Harpoon. Do you think any of you guys could develop one?

This is the game I miss the most due to upgrading to 3.1 ROMS, and not being able to use SKICK to load the old 1.3 ROMS.

Thats one game I'm sorry I never got, I always wanted to have a go at that. Strike Fleet and Pegasos were pretty good naval sims as well.

I see that there already is a Harpoon WHDLoad Install.
Harpoon.lha

I should have looked before! (dummy...) :-?

:adz I think I may have another original Harpoon. I know I have 2 sets of original floppies for sure. I may have to dig around for the manual, and I'm sure I have an original box as well.

Let me know if your interested.

Greetings,

Harpoon? Is that the game with small frigate class ships that has missions situated on the Persian Gulf? You'll need a harpoon missle to get rid of others like you(that's why it's called Harpoon)?

If so, I recall playing that game on my C=64(unless I'm wrong). Cool graphics! I miss that version.

-edit-
Oh dirtbag! I remember now! I'm talking about P.H.M Pegasus! That's one awesome game on the C64 that I miss.

I'll keep that in mind, I'm a tad reluctant because of the shipping factor (can be quite pricey even for small items), I might try and track down a local copy, but thanks for offering :-)

I got copies from DoomMaster, I have put the originals on the back burner for now,
I was having troubles with WB3.1 (resolved now) and wanted to try WB2.1. I will
order a set eventually, just to add to my collection (I have originals for 1.3,
2.04, and 3.1).

I would like to see a WHDload for the original Gunship, as well as for the rest of
the AD&D games (Pool of Radience, Death Kinghts of Krynn, etc.)
