It all depends on your hardware.  Have you expanded your system with accelerators, more RAM etc?

What machine are you using?

If you've got a reasonably poky system then there's a wide array of shareware / PD software you can install to improve the performance and appearence of your desktop.

And more importantly, what are you planning to do with it ?

Music ? GFX ? Internet ? Playing (older) games ?
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

some stuff to speed WB up on an AGA (maybe OCS/ECS also?) machine:

FBlit
FText
BlazeWCP
FScreen (Not sure how much this does on a 030 but on my 040/40 it made a _huge_ difference, makes the machine a little unstable with certain programs though)

also MCP with various patches is good to have.
Slightly bored and severly confused..

If you're running on a TV, or with a 1084 then MagicTV is a must. It reduces the ammount of on-screen colours to 16 or 32 (don't remember), but it makes it possible to work with an interlaced screen.

One of the many appicon-apps availible is aleays nice...

mostly i was talking about workbench hacks, but i games things would be usefull to, and i hear you can hack lots of games to work off hard drive these days..which is nice  - disk swapping was well annoying, especially on street fighter 2, and flight of the amazon queen, and simon the sorsoror to name a few - this was before i got a hard drive
