shopping :-/
« on: September 04, 2004, 08:08:20 PM »
My coat was stolen in some bar in the city...
had to buy a new one
problem is:
've been through the whole city and NO suitable coat to be found anywhere! (if any coat at all). Clothe shops everywhere but only for very fancy pants ppl. :admonish:
Yeah, I'm tall, 2 metres in length, but, that's not really exceptional in these regions...
Stupid shops! No wonder it's going bad with the economy! If they don't sell stuff that I need   :furious:

Tis not the first time when I needed something of clothing (something decent for an interview) and I had to find it in one of the most expensive shops in the city, a shirt wich costed an arm and a leg (I had to have it because the interview was next day), only because of my length.

(luckily I still have a mother who knows how to deal with these kinda situations :-))

rather said: being an exception in length isn't a good thing
They should have things for large ppl because, as I've stated, I am not exceptionally tall, there are many here of my length. No wonder many of these kinda shops are shut.. They don't offer much, neither do they offer different stuff so they can distinct themselves from other clothe shops, and apparently, they do not even offer quite standard stuff that I wanted: a coat! So they're many gonna shut, as good economics work.

And in the meanwhile I'm without a decent coat (if it wasn't for my dear mother)

@Speel,

In my experience, the Dutch seem to be unfeasibly tall in general.  Some time back I dated this Dutch girl who was the shortest in her family but was eye to eye with me in flat shoes.

Over in sunny England I'm a not unreasonable 5ft 11", but in Holland everyone seems to tower above me.

I have a theory that the Dutch are so tall out of genetic necessity, after all it's a country prone to flooding...

Natural selection. When the dams burst, the short people drown.

That said, I'm 6'4" and most of my male friends from my home town are 6ft or above.
In fact, some of the female ones are tall too, one of them being 5ft 11

Anyway mannetje, I have the same problem with shoes. My feet are size thirteen (crazy UK sizes) but no shops seem to sell above size 12.
So when I buy new shoes, I don't choose a pair that I like, I end up choosing a pair that they have a size 13 in :-(

You should try coping with that when leather is not an option, either... :-(

@PMC&KennyR
:lol:
naah, I think the major cause of our length is a good healthy diet, with much potatoes and milk.

Btw. you English must be the most pale people in the world.

What do you expect for a country that has less sunshine than the dark side of the moon ?

If only scientists could devise a method of getting a tan from rain, we`d be laughing.

Being almost as tall as you, I feel your pain. I have a hell everytime I want to buy new clothes. As a matter of fact there is only two stores in this city (for those of you not familiar with swedish geography, Helsingborg is a fairly large city with about 140 000 people living here) that have clothes in my size, unless I want to pay two days salary for a pair of jeans.

Thankfully both stores have a varied sortiment.
