DKB Insider II help!
« on: September 04, 2004, 02:06:46 AM »
I got a DKB Insider II board and do not have instructions on how to install it.  It has a clip and this needs to go somewhere, other that that I assume just removing the 68000 and installing this and reinstalling the 68000 on it.  What about the RAM, is it autoconfig?  Or do I need to run a program?  It has 1.5MB installed.

Doesn't know if it helps you much but the DKB MegaChip have a whire going to pin 36 on Gary.

Not muck info on "the two" amiga hardware sites either as can be seen here and here.

I checked my files, and I don't have anything on it. I've got a Kwikstart board in mine, but used an external RAM card. If it was ever reviewed in the US Amiga mags, I might have a scan of the article... although it would take some time to find it, since I haven't got around to indexing them all.

later....

Well, I took a look through the CDs. I don't have anything on the Insider II. There were some reviews of the Insider 1, but nothing that would help.

Apparently this card is rare or something as there is no info on it. I wonder if I can get a hold of Deak K Brown somehow? ;)

@TjLaZer

 I know someone here in NY who has one, as I have been trying to rip it out of his hands............Ill ask him if he has a disk or whatever and how its plugged in.  I may be wrong about it being an Insider II though...............it may be a Spirit board or the Phoenix, so I gotta make sure.

I found this info on this page:

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search.pl?amiga=1000

@TjLaZer

Ha.sorry about the double post, but I just found this on Amiga.com

http://www.amiga.com/press/zine/8-1-00/Dean_Brown/

Apparently this INSIDER board is not so rare at all :-)
 neat story.

EDIT:

here is another link..........this is for the Spirit INSIDER board, but it seems to have a jumper cable lik yours and it says where to connect it ( I dont recommend that you do it as it might not be the same)

While the assumption that the jumper is the same is resonable, the Spirit Inboard and the DKB are different designs.

I don't know about the DKB, but the Spirit device was terrible.  It was bad enough to convince me to stick with external RAM expansion.

Necro bump for anyone looking, here is the manual!

"The Red Clip connects to the fourth pin down counting from the right rear,
(Pin 14 for Tech Types) under the Daughter board at location P6. It is very
difficult to get at this pin so please work slowly, patience is needed here on this
one."
