It's so sad it had to come to this.  I wanted to give BoingBoss a chance and not let judgement be clouded by his past conduct here, but I guess if the moderators have just cause to shut him down for abuse - and are responsible enough to take action against him for ripping off other AOrg members then I'm grateful to them.

That a self proclaimed Amiga expert asked a great deal of elemental questions was quite startling though....

Do you mean elementary?

Elemental would be physics, chemistry, or the study of mystical spirits (maybe) ...

@ amigamad

The first guy states his location as Illinois
But we all know Doomy is from Oregon :-)

@ Wayne
Apologies for my part in dragging this on, it wasn't my intention to 'martyr' him

But I always back the underdog, and always gave him the benefit of the doubt and fought on his side, including the first time before he was originally banned - many people attacked him simply because he was DoomMaster, rather than because he'd done anything to upset them; That kind of 'kids in the playground' mentality, where some kid gets picked on because he gets picked on, if you know what I mean. So I always felt the need to stand up for him, and do now to an extent, for some reason :-?

Recently he offered some useful advice to people, believe it or not, and I thought his picture of the A500 tower conversion was cool.

Ripping off EdKing wasn't really on though, and shooting himself in the foot in a public forum such as this.

Anyway, I shan't say any more on the matter, other than its a shame he couldn't have behaved.

Good news.

In fact, that's the best news I've read in quite some time.

I just hope that if there is a next time (I hope not), that people won't give him the positive attention that he gets.

Some here seem to worship him. There isn't much worse than people treating him like anything greater than a complete POS.

And that's all he is.

Take "positive" out of that statement.  He should be ignored like we all try to ignore chavs :-)

If you've been ripped off by anyone, contact your local police dept. with all the details and documentation plus items recieved. Also, If you know that the person has defrauded others, mention that with as much detail as you can. Assuming you have the other party's address, try to contact their local law enforcement about the issue you have with them. If there was anything send through the U.S Postal Service, you can file a complain with them here. If the transaction was across state lines, you may also wish to file a complaint with the Fedral Trade Commision. You can do that here. Another thing is contacting the State Attorney General's Office of the person's state of residence. If you've used a payment service like Paypal, Western Union, a Credit Card, etc. try contacting them. YMMV.
Basically, explore all avenues of complaint. It will increase you chance of action on you complaint. You might not get any or all of you money back, but the other party will probably be penalized or at least stopped in further efforts to defraud.
Almost forgot... If you know of any other that have been defrauded by the same individual or company, contact them and encourage them to take action. More reported instances of fraud will also increase a chance of action on you complaint.

Hello people.

Seems like we at the EAB have been struck by this "virus" as well, as noted before in this very thread.

The guy has started to make offers to sell crap on many threads, and I think a warning to the users should be issued.

If any of you also visit the EAB and could post in the Marketplace section about DoomMaster's "track record", it'd be much apreciated. Wouldn't be right, I think, for me or any of the mods to post anything. (thanks for warning RCK, our site admin, about this)

Best regards,
/ akira_K

Hoya!

Too bad there is no "Net Police", so to speak, which would surf the Net, localise people like that and watch them.

The Net is a free place, indeed, but also a dangerous one.

/me thinks M$ would be glad to have DM with them...

I doubt it. Doomy is much older, lives in Oregon and sells stuff on ebay under a different nick.
In fact, there's a pic in the gallery of him in the early 80s with a C64 rig. Whereas that Merlancia guy would have been in nappies ['diapers' for the Yanks] then.

And Akira counters with some great comments...

I think your real problem with these machines is that somehow you got stuck with an A500, and feeling jealous of those with newer machines, you decided to grab a nice A500, stick it in an ugly arse PC-style case, and put some expansions in it (which are nothing to call home for, actually), and pretend to be mega hardcore and so super cool.

Welcome to the real world. The Amiga 1200 is a much better platform than your "Tower of Power"... hahaha, the name gives it up isn't it?
