I doubt any Amiga is rarer here (maybe the CD32 and the 3000/4000T?)
-edit-
Sorry, got off topic...

Yes they cost more here, apparently we Yanks are filthy rich and like to overbid on eBay. ;)  All the boxed 600HDs sell far over $100 on eBay all the time.

It was advertised as mint in box, it did come in a box, though a little beat up, and the unit kinda worked.  The HD was DOA, but I swapped in my spare 2GB HD in it and got it to work.  The 600HD itself was ok except for the broken clips and the sound distorsion I am having.  Over all I am happy with it, but I did pay a little much for it.

And yet here we swat 'em like 'roaches :-D

ok, maybe not /that/ common, but not far off ...

Ahem, perhaps a unified Amiga/Atari alliance is needed!  A Faq or list of known EBay usernames to treat with care might be of use in the future.

JaX - he was behaving ok, then just went back to his worst again.

Good to see him being dealt with so firmly.  Rules are rules.  Whilst undoubtedly an idiot and very much an undesirable, I find myself very grudgingly (ie. not really) admiring his tenacity.  His behaviour is so very intriguing.

Second sentence above is supposed to refer to Doomy rather than myself!  Re-reading shows it to be somewhat ambiguous.

I say report him to the FBI (copyright infringement) and the US Postal Inspection Service (mail fraud). No one likes to be a snitch . . . but blantantly selling copies of copyrighted material to unsuspecting customers is a far cry from copyright infringement bordering on fair use (i.e. making a copy of a 20 year old game from a defunct publisher for a friend).

EDIT: Speaking of copyright infringement, just pretend you can't see the trademarked Sega Swirl in my avatar.

Since I really enjoy the Dreamcast, will do!  :-D

But yea, too bad all that side had to get banned. But even though, if a normal user wants to use A.org again, cant they give you their set of IP range and allow them to pass through? I am not brilliant with networking, but just was some suggestion.

Yea, i didnt like the fact he was selling pirated copies on ebay, thats like the people at Yahoo! auctions selling copied Dreamcast games for bundles of moneys.

Give me time, and we can gather a team of people and drive up to his house and visit with him.  :-D Hope he has military strength, because we will own him like there is no more Amiga 2000. :-D  :-)

Heres another rap.

I got on ebay and bought Amiga OS
I realized it was copied, so i started to stress.
I drove to oregon and stepped out my car
When i found doommaster, I then punched him hard."
He started to cry, and yelled 'military style'
I then laughed and told him "Your nothing but a pile."

Hhashahaah, sorry guys, no hard feelings, just wanted to pitch in my cheesy lyrics.  :-)
-=-=-=-=-=-
Mine!  :-D

@yogisumo

Well, he operates on a somewhat different (he'd probably say higher) plane than the rest of us. He knows his stuff Amiga-wise and when he was a good boy (alter ego 'BoingBoss' usually) he was very informative on Amiga historic stuff.

He always, but always, defines Amigas as 'computers' as if nobody around here knows what an A4000, A2000, A1200 or an A500 is. I believe he owns several classic 'Amiga computers', particularly those fitted with 'military grade' chips. If anyone ever mentions military grade chips on the net, Doomy will be involved.

He apparently dabbles a good deal on eBay, seemingly selling stuff, pirating and ripping people off in equal measure.

Once you've read a few of his posts, his style is very recognisable and he's got a brilliant way of getting up your nose without trying. Many people (me included) enjoyed reading his posts and if he could have managed to stay within the rules, he'd probably have become an even bigger AOrg legend than he is.

As it is, he seems to have a nasty streak which completely negates all the foregoing. If you can find any of his old posts, they'll show what I mean. However, if there's no record left to read, you'll have to wait till he pops up again. And believe me, he will pop up again.

Cheers,

JaX

@ JaX

You forgot the "You do NOT know what you're talking about ! :-D" kinda sentences.

Anyway, Doommaster, Amiga2000king (IIRC), Boingboss, RetroGeek and every other alter ego he has had, had the same posting style and most of them have a similar attitude towards other members opinion and telling everybody how great he (thinks he) is. Just look them up in the member list and read his posts.

A good thread that shows Doomy style posting was the recent battery thread by DanDude here.

Well, let's stop lending to his self-imported legendry here.  I openly admit that he WAS trying to be good as Boingboss, but the longer it went on, he started to slip back into his apparent real persona.

He's not a legend.  He's certainly not even worth the 38 messages so far.  He's just a guy who apparently suffers from one or more sociopathic issues which prevent him from living within the rules of any given site.

I won't however feel bad for trying to give him the benefit of doubt.  If anything, I feel bad for those who fell prey to his ebay practices, as though I didn't scream "ALWAYS BE CAREFUL" loud enough.

I'm just sad that situations like this exist, because it gives all Amiga users (as a whole) a proverbial black eye.  Sadly, not all Amiga-scene scam artists operate solely on eBay as we've seen at the self-imported highest levels of this community.

I don't mind the posts.  "It's good to talk about your problems"  :)

I was just making the point that we could be "egging him on" by making his banning out to be such an important thing that he simply "must" be a legend.

Well, let's stop lending to his self-imported legendry here.

Not self-imported perse. He did have a certain charm, I can see why some people liked his post and believed he was funny. Sometimes he was.

I openly admit that he WAS trying to be good as Boingboss, but the longer it went on, he started to slip back into his apparent real persona.

Hmpf. He was just trying to fool us all. Again.

He's not a legend. He's certainly not even worth the 38 messages so far. He's just a guy who apparently suffers from one or more sociopathic issues which prevent him from living within the rules of any given site.

These sociopathic issues also causes other people to fall for his charm and scams. I doubt a list of scammers is ever going to be put up (to much legal trouble I think) but I do think we need to warn people if we can.

Let's hope RetroGeek was the last we've seen from him. He had his second, third, and fourth change.

I'll stop posting here now. At least try to. (Used to stay away froom Doom threads..After I tried to warn him when he first posted here as Doommaster that his posting style was not going to help him.. Silly me..)
