Ah, plucking nose hairs is exquisite pain. I got them around 28/29 years old, along with ear hair.

Soak an ear bud in alcohol, set it alight, and flick the burning end at the offending hairs (ears and nose). This is a flick action that of course includes a sudden pull-back. Offending hairs burn off very quickly, skin is fine.

Oh, don't do this just after applying aftershave.

No it's not. "Hair" is both a singular noun ("a hair") and a mass noun ("some hair"). It is not plural. The plural of "hair" is "hairs", as in "six hairs".
