Book: AGA Supliment
« on: August 30, 2004, 02:03:10 PM »
Hi
What's in the book AGA Supliment. I've just found out about this book and I was wondering exactly what's in it?

If it's what I'm thinking of then it was hardly a book. When I bought my 1200 I had a few pieces of paper stapled together which I'm sure was called the AGA Supliment.

If it is that then I think it simply detailed the early startup menus for compatibility.

But I could be quite wrong!

Dunno, but paper and ink seems a safe guess  :-D

Never heard of that book, a little bit extra infor on where you found what about that book wouldn't hurt.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

AFAIK that's the manual that came with AGA Amigas (at least my A1200 came with it). IIRC the actual Amiga manuals didn't mention AGA at all (in screenmodes etc), so you were supposed to read this supliment manual to get "upto date" with AGA features.

Yeah, it explained the Multiscan modes (kind of).  The bit that was missing from appendex A, I believe.

I'm looking at a copy of the Multilingual Edition right now. The English section was only about eight pages. And it was in ten languages.

Brief list of what's on each page:

Page 1: (Intro)
Page 2: General AGA Information
Page 3: Tips for Working with AGA & Monitor Types
Page 4: Monitor Types cont. (Horizontal Scan Rate & Vertical Scan Rate)
Page 5: Monitor Types cont. (Video Monitors & VGA Montiors Scan rates of these montior drivers.)
Page 6: Monitor Types cont. (Multican Monitor as above.) Choosing a Monitor
Page 7: Mode Promotion
Page 8: Mode Promotion cont., Coercion, and Preference Editors.

You pretty much get all of this info if you have the 3.1 manual or the HTML 3.5 and 3.9 manuals off of the CD's.
