Entertaining unwanted houseguest
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:48:31 PM »
Bored out of my gourd.

Supposed to be entertaining a houseguest, but he's been here for 4 months and I'm tired of it. How do you get someone who can't take a hint to leave?

He's supposed to leave when he finds a job, but he's had and quit 3 jobs in the last few months. He was offered $16/hour plus health and benefits and a company truck yesterday at Champion Homebuilders, and turned it down. He doesn't "like" working on mobil homes, he says the people there are "racist."

  :pissed:

You'd think an uneducated fool with no high school diploma would thank his lucky stars for a job offer like that, they even throw in subsidised housing if you want it. All he'd have to pay for is gas and food, and even his GAS would be subsidised!

Hints hardly ever work. Tell him he overstayed his welcome, give him 1 week notice.

@ T-Bone

If I were you I would try to organise a two-week holiday somewhere. Then simultaneously organise to have the place fumigated, or the flooring sealed, or any arbitrary thing you can think of. The guest will have to go. Just say 'It's been real nice having you around, but I need to clear the house for fumigation and I know you are making job advances too. Hope you enjoyed your stay and good luck with your new job.'

Oh, and the thing he does that pisses me off the most... he asks people I know for favors using ME as a reference... ie: "I'm a friend of Troy's, and I was wondering if..."

Borrows {bleep} from neighbors, asks almost everyone I know for favors, etc.

He uses the grill, and dumps the ashes in the garden, saying "Hope you don't think I'm a slob, that's actually good for the plants" as I watch the johnny jump-ups drown in greasy ash.

Reminds me of the scene in Christmas vacation where Eddie drains his RV's sewage into the storm sewer.

He talks to my kids telling them that his predicament is due to "The man keeping him down" and I have all this damage controll to dish out to my kids telling him he's a useless bum that shouldn't be listened to.

Hell, if he doesn't leave, I will!

Heh, went to virginia for several days while flea bombing. He was supposed to leave then, he reappeared.

I guess I'll just have to be a prick and not worry about it, he must go.

T_Bone, you will have to put your foot down, or else he'll never leave. Better do it sooner than later. Be direct and tell him that you don't want him there anymore. 4 months is a lot of time and if he had any respect for you and your family he would have taken those jobs and then work from that point on upgrading to something better, in case he doesn't like it. Who is he to make YOU pay for the fact that he doesn't like the terms of those jobs? Jeez, what a lazy prick. I would tell him to get out, asap.
