:-)

I got 155 - shame on me for knowing who the singer of Limp Wristed is but not the name of Maiden's 2003 album!

522 on second attempt
(My {bleep} rock knowledge seems to be lacking...)

edit: I didn't know that word was censored. So what noise do roosters make? {bleep} a doodle do!
And how about {bleep} fighting.
And what do you use for playing badminton? shuttle {bleep}
And what stops the toilet cistern filling up further when it has reached the required level? Why a stop {bleep} of course!

I got 313 points first time.

Now I know that Mike Portnoy is a drummer ;-)

--edit--

340 on attempt number 2 - I didn't know that Alice Cooper was afraid of needles!

My best so far is 478.

-Edit-

Ok 558 now using the help:-) Boy the questions range from dead simple to totally obscure :-o

But I only listen to good metal, so it wasn't really a fair test.

There's some good metal out there :-o

I thought it was all just random noise that doesn't make sense.  Oh wait, that's just thrash and death metal...

/me makes a mental not to broaden his music tastes

Its a very odd quiz, tends to ask the same question twice in a row half the time. I know a lot of the answers but then a {bleep} rock questions comes up and kills me, its most frustrating.

edit: Top Score 1253 points, beaten by a slipknot question this time. Guess working in a record shop is good for something.

I thought that too, but then I worked in a record shop in the mid 90s in my 'year off' after leaving school. The thing is, I've been out of the game long enough to feel out of touch with metal.
When I was working there, Korn had two albums, Machine head were bringing out their second. Limp Wristed had one album, {bleep}knot were just appearing on the scene, Soulfly had just started up, there was Coal Chamber....I feel so out of touch with all of that. I saw the start of Nu (shudder at that spelling) Metal, and it did seem okay then. [I loved Korn's album when it came out in '95 (IIRC), but it all seems so manufactured now...
It does make me feel old! And I'm only 25!

My metal knowledge is pretty good, except obscure Death Metal bands and {bleep}-a-doodle rock. But now there's all this new-fangled Nu (shudder at spelling) Metal

Death to Nu-Metal!!!!

It's already dead, not to worry. Cheesy "melodic hardcore" (usually intentionally mislabeled as emo for marketing reasons) is the trendy sound of the cities these days (hence the term "fashioncore".) Which makes life incredibly frustrating for those of us actually interested in independantly produced music in the first place. :-(

As for Korn... They kinda worked as an angry band. Success came a-knockin' and they realised they weren't really that angry anymore, but the rent still had to be paid...

Sad, really. Although it's fairly obvious to anyone who's seen their first VHS that they were never among the great thinkers of our time. :-D

Hmm, it sounds as if they've taken this '-core' business to a preposterous new level.

Hmm...

Do you reckon I could start up a scene where fruit was the sole subject matter?

Then I could call it.....

Yep, you guessed it....Applecore

Really, though, as I'm sure many of you will agree, the whole classification thing is silly. Sure, have genres. But when it becomes 'cheesecore' or whatever, its time to stop.

Something similar happened with house music IIRC
You had 'hard house'
You had 'handbag house'
And then the expression 'hardbag' was coined :lol:

Well I don't like "hardcore" as a genre label anyway. It's used to refer to several different kinds of music. "Fashioncore" is a derogatory label though, like {bleep}-rock (and there are some disturbing parallels!) something the punks came up with to take the piss. ;-)

Well, "God hates us All" is quite different from, say, "Reign in Blood", isn't it?

True, but once the songs kick in they still have that same sound.  It's not quite as thrashy as it used to be, but it's still got the distinctive Slayer sound to it :-D
