My question to the 'community' is do you think this is too expensive for what I am getting? I am not sure about shipping costs from Denmark to the USA so I would have to take that into account.

You would get a better and cheaper A1200 System at lower shipping costs if you buy it from Vesalia.

Let's take Vesalia for example. They sell new A1200 with 40, 60, and 80GB hard drives in them. They had to open NOS units to install those hard drives, no doubt about it.

I am not sure if the drives are installed into the Amiga from Vesalia.

Getting ripped off by ebay sellers that don't send products that are paid for is one thing, and I have experienced this more times than once recently.

Backing out of purchase is quite another.

Ask yourself this question:

How much is this Amiga worth to you? Not what is it worth to everyone else. If you can't figure that out, then you should think why you bid in the first place.

This A1200 is a little steep for me, but then I did not bid on it. I certainly don't think this is a rip off. Sounds like a kick ass machine, and I'm jealous I didn't have the money to outbid you.

w00p, you're better of buying a new A1200 from Vesalia.

You bid and won the auction. You have to buy it now. Backing out would be wrong since a bit it a contract as stated on ebay. I do think you paid way to much as well. Shipping from Europe would not be that much. I got an A1200 a few years back and it was only $30 to ship it air post. It took a week to get to me. In the future when you upgrade make sure to look before you leap.

The auction started at $9.99 and no reserve. I didn't push anyone into bidding over $300USD+. I don't have spyware installed on his computer that bids to my advantage, without his knowledge. The fact that he is an uninformed bidder is not my problem or concern.

My comments were bitter, I 100% agree, however I did it to sort of tease Cyberus, as he asked for advice on whether I find it I earn more or less when selling stuff like this together or separate (first reply to this thread).

I don't even understand why this is an issue.  There is a feature on ebay that allows you to search completed auctions.  You can then see how much things have sold for within the past month or so. w00p might have seen this: Ebay Auction I won.
If w00p didn't do it, tough.

Also, I just looked a w00p's feedback.  W00p purchased an amiga 1200 last month for $122.  So my questions to you w00p are: Did you know what that one was worth before you bid?  How many do you hafta buy before you establish what they are worth in your mind?

Desverger - I guess you didn't fully read my post, or the other post I made about selling that Amiga since I won another. All I was after was some feedback from people in the Amiga community as to this auction and its price. And the only reason I even made the post in the first place was that someone told me to look at it! Whether I decide to pay for the item or not is entirely up to me, but before I make that decision, I wanted to ask around. If you're not going to provide me with some feedback on the actual questions I asked, maybe you could post somewhere else?

x56h34 - I will probably end up paying for the Amiga, for some reason, I still like the fact as to what I am getting and money wise, I'm fine with parting with $375 for it. I was just caught off guard with your comment RE: the price it sold for.

So you've bought and sold a 1200.  I don't understand why you don't have any idea of what they are worth by now.

Also, I will tell you why I responded to this thread.  I am a member of the Amiga community and of the Ebay community. As a seller there is nothing worse than a non-paying bidder. I don't care what anyone thinks about what you contractually said you'd pay for it.  The bottom line is that you said you'd pay that for it.  Period.  Now pay the man!

That is the last post I will make in this thread.  I am butting out.

W00p you need to pay for the auction. You could have looked arround but didnt, and bit on it without force.

Once again, for those of you who can not read, or do not understand. Regardless of whether you think I should pay for this item or not has absolutely no bearing on my decision at all! I was merely looking for opinions on whether people thought the total on the item was high. I went back and read over my previous posts and couldn't find anywhere that I stated I was not going to pay for the item; I did say I was thinking about not paying for the item, depending on the feedback. For those that were competent enough to read my posts and reply with their points of view, I appreciate it. For others, well what can I say ... thanks for trying?

Watch out for bad advices such as the ones comming from DjBase. He is only in it so that he could mine this auction (look at the pattern of his replies). He's not your friend, but a resident troll.

Just look at this comment made by him:

How would you get lower shipping rates from Germany, if shipped to the states? Vesalia will charge 60EUR to 80EUR at least, for shipping an A1200 Magic pack to the US. I've ordered quite a bit from them so I speak from experience.

And then DjBase plays dumb and says that he doesn't know if Vesalia install those 40, 60, and 80GB hard drives themselves in the magic packs...suuure, I bet Commodore or Escom installed them throughout 1992 and 1995. Oh yes, they had them way before everyone else.

Ok I just can't force myself to no respond to this so I will apologize to those who are tired of my ranting.

First, I did give you my opinion about the caliber of deal you got. I also included my full opinion of the deal as I saw it complete with my opinion of your allusions. I am sorry if you don't like it, but it is what it is.

Generally if you are "thinking about" X then there is a possibility that you will do X.  I was merely trying to disuade you from X which in this case equals breaking a contract made in good faith.

I am looking at getting a MIB A1200 NTSC and was quoted 36 Euro shipping to the USA by Vesalia.  The A1200 I want is a NTSC unit and around 90 Euro with no upgrades as I have a 2G and 4G laptop HD sitting here ready to be used. 126 Euro is worth it shipped to me.  Not sure where the 80 Euro came from unless I was quoted wrong.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

hmmm, $375 for a second-hand A1200... that really makes me think Ebay is full of people
1)with too much cash in their hands
2)who don't have a clue of the value of things

I paid 120 euros 2-3 years ago for a brand new A1200 "magic pack", albeit with no HDD and accelerator. But then that Viper 030 isn't worth much...

And here in the UK I could regularly pick-up A1200 on car boot sales for around 10-20 euros.

Anyway I guess I'll give Ebay a go when I want to part with the A4000T+Cyberstom 060 I have in a closet... With such Ebayers around that should earn me enough for a decent PC or holiday in the sun :D
