Catweasel & Amiga Keyboard/Mouse & OS4
« on: August 06, 2004, 11:18:02 PM »
Hello All

I have a Problem when using the catweasel-controller in my A1 whit the
original amiga-keyboard and Amiga-Mouse.
The Amiga-Mouse is not be recognized so i have to use a PS/2 style Mouse
but the PS/2 Mouse will only be recognized if a PS/2-Keyboard is also plugged
in the A1!

So is there a solution or should i place a spare ps/2-keyboard place under
my Desk?

I have searched on AMInet and Intutionbase for some Driver and Infos
but did not find any OS4 issues.

Has anybody a Catweasel in his/her AmigaOne that has the same Problems
or a Solution for it?

Regards

AFAIR Amiga mouses are not supported (it is too difficult). You need newer Mk4.
My Amigas: A500, Mac Mini and PowerBook

I emailed Jens Schoenfeld about the Catweasel and OS4 a few weeks ago. Officially, only the Keyboard works at the moment. At least 2 people working on OS4 are on the Catweasel development list and are working on getting the remaining features activated. There's no ETA yet.

The Catweasel MK3 wasn't really designed to work with mice. From the Catweasel MK3 documentation: "Connecting an Amiga or Atari mouse may be possible, but since there are no hardware counters, this would cause heavy CPU load because of the high rate that would be necessary to poll the JoyDat register."

So, unless someone has written a well-behaved mouse driver, your best bet would be to keep a second keyboard plugged into the A1 keyboard port or purchase a PS/2 keyboard terminator.

You could also lobby for an A4000 keyboard to PS/2 convertor. Or, you can upgrade to the Catweasel MK4 when it becomes available, as it should support any combination of Amiga and PS/2 mice and keyboards (assuming software availability).
