Quick question, Amiga ZIP ram, how many pins?

Thanks in advance. I have an A3k at the office, but I'm not there. i could really use a quick answer:-)
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

20pins(legs) on each chip. :-)

Yep, 20 pins. But I'd also like to add a question: How do you determine which is pin 1?

Not always.  I have a batch of 256Kx4 ones that only use 19 pins, with an index in the rear center (pin 16 missing).  

Correct orientation is to put the notch toward the left.  Then the front left pin is pin 1.

Er... what notch? :-? The A3000 Manual indicates that pin 1 is on the side of what appears to be a sliced-off corner. My spare ZIPs are all perfectly rectangular, however.

Yeah... The chips usually have a cut corner, or an index notch.  That notch should go on the left side.  Then the front-left pin.

If yours doesn't, most likely, the printed side should be the side facing you, and the left-front pin from that orientation would be pin 1.  

But I'd search for an index mark.  Most chips have one of some form or another.
