Might be a very stupid question but anyway..
Is scandoubler same as flickerfixer or what is the difference?

A scandoubler converts the Amiga's PAL/NTSC signal (~15 Khz), into a VGA compatible format (~31 Khz).

In essence, it doubles the original horizontal scanrate, since PC monitors can't display anything below 31Khz.

A flickerfixer is an extended version of a scandoubler, it both doubles the scanrate (so a PC monitor can display the Amiga native PAL/NTSC modes) and adds a memory buffer.

This memory buffer is used to 'deinterlace' the interlaced screenmodes, so the don't 'flicker' on the screen anymore.

Ofcourse, the scandboubler won't work on a ECS/AGA non-PAL/NTSC mode (such as DoublePal or Super72).

FlickerFixers might deinterlace those 'extended' modes, but that varies according to model and make.

Hope this helps!

OK AFAIR the display should come out of the scandoubler, but I also seem to recall that the scandoubler only works correctly with the A4000, hang on a tick I'll have a look....and fix some typos :-)

....from the big book of amiga hardware:
CV64/3D
A companion scan-doubler card was also made for this graphics card which is designed to fit AGA-style video slots. A monitor switcher and MPEG Card were also planned, although the MPEG card was made, it was never released to the public. The scandoubler does not work fully in non-AGA systems, the native display is not scandoubled but is simply passed through.

The site also has a manual for the scandoubler for download.

But i have the Flicker fixer on the video slot of the A2000B.. not a scandoubler. Is it anyways the same result?
Or Is the gfx card already doing the work of the flickerfixer?

Sorry missread, thought was the module for the CV64/3D!

Try the FFixer display, the CV64/3d doesn't have a passthrough like the CV64 that I have, on my system the cable comes out of the 31KHz port of the FFixer then into the CV64 then out to the monitor.  You might need a passthru box like the BMon that Eyetech sold.  Try it and see it the CV64/3d modes can be displayed with the FFixer output.  Use the USE button on the screenmode so if you can't see the CV64/3d display you can just reboot to get back to a useable screen mode.  Your FFixer sould display PAL/NTSC Hires laced ok on a svga.

:-)

Good luck!  Should be ok though!
You might end up having to use 2 monitors or one of those monitor switchboxes, since the displays are both svga a pc switcher should work??  Emial Eyetech in the UK they might have some BMons left or might be able to advise your best course of action to get your system running.

TTFN!

@Apache2k:

You need to make sure that you have no more than 4MB fastmem mapped in the Zorro2 address-space. This is because the Zorro2 address-space is only 8MB big and the CV64/3D needs 4MB of it to map its Video-RAM. Fastmem on Zorro2-cards is always mapped in the Zorro2 address-space and so is often the 32-bit fastmem on many turbocards. My advice would be that you make sure you have a maximum of 4MB fastmem in your system and then try the CV64/3D. What turbocard do you have btw?
