@ikir,

You picked the wrong day to try to pick a fight with me sir.  You can easily save JPG files at 80% (20% compression) with zero artifacts or other issues.  The fact that you choose not to is your choice.  There's also the fact that you show an extreme lack of courtesy to others (and disrespect of the site) by uploading such a huge, uncompressed file.

Not everyone is anal about simplistic screenshots.

No offence taken per se, but you can imagine us being slightly miffed because we are trying to provide as decent a service to the community as we can, and this could be taken as a bit of a permanent way of telling us that we're not good enough...

I prefer this new os4 gallery, cause the amiga.org gallery downsizes/downsamples the pictures to a lower resolution, so you cant see how the real quality is... I would have liked the amiga.org gallery if it showed the proper resolution. That is my opinion, no offense intended.

I dunno if this limit is still the case, but most screenshots there are still 600x450 or something, which does not really show the true quality of the OS.

Then you better understand why people make an alternative gallery aswell, for those people who like to see the true quality of the picture.. I cant see how you can say that ikir started a fight either, all he was doing was posting his site. :-(

May I be so bold to suggest a compromise?

The idea of having screenshots in the AOrg's gallery is a good one, and enriches the site as a community resource.

But some people like to see the whole image, in 'realistic' quality, so having the option available, such as on a dedicated site, where space is not a premium is also a good idea.

So why not have both?

I personally am on dialup (nothing faster available here in the countryside), so whether or not I want to see large images, they hog my bandwidth to the extent that I won't usually bother. But if I *did* have a faster connection, I might want to see the image in all its glory:-)

:-)
Regards,
Cyberus
I like Amigas

@Tomas

It isn't my website neither.

@Wayne
Lack of courtesy? Where? i only asked if the limit was removed. I don't see any lack of courtesy and disrespect of the site.

I personally don't care if there's another site (or a dozen for that matter) on the Web to publish screenshots.  More power to them.  I've simply sat here and heard people tell me repeatedly about non-existent limits and what I consider complaints about our own screenshot gallery.

For the record, having just checked, the limits are 1600 x 1200 and 300kb.  The images are NOT resized, though if the people complaining had any concept of what they were talking about, they would know that when we upgraded the module about 6 months ago, there was an accident that resized all images automatically.  Nothing I can do about that, or I would have.

You could have just said that, when the question was brought up, instead of being so hostile.. I have never heard about the accident that resized the images in the database...

Wasn't our screenshots section good enough for you?

You can just ask for a seperate new category and we'd consider it...

You alright, Mike?  You seem a bit on edge...   :-?
Have you hugged your KennyR or Paul Gadd today?

Ikir,

Sorry.  I should not have commented at all.  I know for a fact that there is nothing left on any subject that I can say any more without drawing criticism from or being blown out of proportion by the members of this site.

If anyone here had any idea what I was really going through....

Hum,
The screenshots here are fine for my dialup...

And i hope my crazy antics don’t add to your inner torment...

I'm sure you'll just laugh this thread off in a wee while, and be back to your, er, `normal` self...

er, well, until, that quake hits...
