Knicker Auction - only in Oz
« on: July 30, 2004, 01:51:43 PM »
If anyone has a desperate need for some second hand skimpies then the Grand Hotel in Hughenden, Queensland (decribed as a "handsome bush pub") is auctioning some second hand soveniers cheap.

http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,10289276%255E421,00.html

Aparrently most of the donated undergarments are in good condition and "ready to wear".

What made me 'laugh' was that there's a story linked on that page

Smoker dies after catching fire

And there's an ad halfway down the page, of a fire burning and  its for a singles' site. Is that Australian humour, or an unfortunate coincidence?

Second hand undies auctioned in a "handsome bush pub"...I see the ozzies have mastered the art of the double entendre..

BTW, talking of stupid things..
I bought a couple of cans of wasp net destroyer after finding several nests outside my garage/workshop.
On the back of the can it said "Warning: This product is harmful to bees" ..well, DUH!
On schedule, and suing

I wouldn't buy wasp killer myself, but I can see why someone wouldn't want to kill bees, as bees are not a nuisance.

Of course it should be obvious that wasp killer would be likely to kill bees as well....:-)

Have you ever bought a package of peanuts or cashews and on the back it says "Caution: May contain nuts"?

I always laugh at that

I wish I`d taken a pic of a warning I saw at work a year ago, had us all laughing (I guess we`re easily amused..)

It was on the side of a 25kg drum of silicone rubber, and had a diagram of a small child jumping head first into the drum, with a big cross through it
I guess it came as no suprise that the rubber came from the US. Imagine the court case,"The defendants product clearly warns against diving into rubber, case dismissed."
On schedule, and suing

FFS... if people are they stupid they need a sign telling them that, then they shouldn`t be allowed behind the wheel!

Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer lobbies the council for a sign, in the end he even gets one put up saying "Warning: Sign Ahead"
