finally the end of the comic book film conversion era?
« on: July 23, 2004, 05:56:17 PM »
Catwoman trailer

It was bad!  It was AWFUL!  Oh, it was terrible! take it away!  Hey, BOO!

I think it's apt to use this Muppets quote, especially when considering the complete muppets who thought this film would be a good idea... hopefully the general public won't make themselves look the muppets instead by actually going to see this crap...

When you go to see a comic book film you know you're not going to be witnessing an oscar winner. (Unless Tim Burton directs it :P) They usually rate from middling to awful.

IMO, the only decent/half-decent comic book conversions:

Batman, X-Men

Allegedly the following are also from comics though, which I rate as half-decent or better:

From Hell, Underworld

The Crow is excellent. One of my favourite movies.

I doubt the comic conversion is coming to an end tho. There are Hulk sequels and all sorts in the pipeline.

The last comic movie I saw was Spiderman. I might go see the second one if I'm in the mood for that sort of thing, but I haven't been since the first.

oh GOD!
 :-P

The first crow movie has a terrible script and horrific acting, but it does have a good atmosphere.

It is also an absolutely TERRIBLE translation from the comic.

NOTE: I am terribly biased against this film because it caused hundreds of losers with white clown makeup and diamonds on their eyes to ruin my clubscene for the next 5 years.

Suddenly, I'm at a concert and wondering why everyone looks like a member of KISS and is claiming that there is some kind of brotherhood or commonality between us...wonderful...just shoot me.

You can't blame the film for doing what it's supposed to, and affecting people. :-)

I watched The Crow recently and didn't think much of it, though perhaps my opinion was adversely affected by quite a few people recommending it.

I have to say I didn't think a lot of The Crow, it was more style over substance... The recent film Hellboy was ok, in a dumb way, though.

Transformers the movie.

Worst movie conversion idea ever?

I can hardly wait for all that ultra-phoney looking CGI, the bad screenplay, the cliche characters, and the script that could have been written by a 6 year old from watching an episode of Thundercats.

Hmm, on second thoughts...Thundercats would be the worst movie conversion ever.
