Strange discdrive in my fresh RBM Towerhawk 1200ex ...
« on: July 22, 2004, 05:07:08 PM »
This is my latest piece of hardware that I bought on german Ebay from somebody in Berlin. If you look at the picture it seems big, but it actually IS big !!!
It has taken me two hours to get it working (nasty power supply cable) but now it seems to work, except one thing : the internal drive. This does not seem to be an original Amiga drive. There is a black cable running from the drive to the square chip on the right of the keyboard connector on the motherboard. Can anybody tell me why ???
The drive does not seem to boot an Amiga disc, but my external drives do. The drive itself spins up when power turns on and I do see a little green light inside the drive ...
Any bright mind blowing suggestions are very welcome because I feel like a little kid with a big grown up toy ...

I have the same tower and it worked well with the standard A1200 diskdrive aswell as an A4000 HD diskdrive that I have in it now. I'd suggest you try get hold of one aswell.

The black cable sounds like a hack... but I don't know for what... perhaps a keycombo to do the diskchange on a modded PC drive?
