Warlords / King's bounty
« on: July 22, 2004, 12:41:24 AM »
These two games makes my day, yes, they still do!
I have been playing Warlords with a friends for FAR to
many hours the last 24 hours. :) It's so much FUN!

One thing that is bothering me is that I can't get King's Bounty to run properly on my A1200/060, has anyone made it
run correctly on an AGA machine? How? Is there a fix/hd version out there somewhere?

And last, but not least important, are there any similiar games for the Amiga?

Hmm... I remember my friend and I used to play the normal disk version of King's Bounty on an A1200.  I think it was just Degrader with the "NoView" (disable AGA) option.

Either that, or we used SKICK to kick the machine back to a 1.3 ROM.  I forget.

I used to put sticky notes on the back of the disks with the loading instructions...  (and remove them before inserting the disk, of course!)  But I can't find my disk for King's Bounty, so I can't tell you for sure what I used to do to make it work.  :-(

Anyhow, I CAN tell you is that it is not fundamentally incompatible with AGA.  It MAY have problems with '060, though.  (I don't distinctly remember playing it on my A4000/060.)

OK, the degrader is always an option, but it is the one
i dislike the most.
I would like to play it from HD, as it is a DOS disk and the game is quite systemfriendly otherwize.. well well..
You can't get everything I guess.

You could try Total Chaos AGA v5.5 available from aminet here
Total Chaos Aminet

or its website with screenshots here
Total Chaos Website with Screenshots

Unlike King's Bounty, Total Chaos works 100% on 060 AGA Hard Drive installable.  Fully multitasking.  100% AmigaOS 3.x

Total Chaos runs in 4x the resolution of King's Bounty, 2x the resolution of Warlords with 240+ more colors on screen and better music and sound fx and 4096x more replayability.

In Warlords the map is the same each game.  In Total Chaos the map is different every time.

There are more monsters available for fighting in Total Chaos than Warlords and King's Bounty combined.

Total Chaos has much more available magic also.

Total Chaos isn't really an "adventure game" like King's Bounty.  The focus is more on winning the battle.

The way you fight, attack and defend in Total Chaos is very simple yet much more strategic IMHO than Warlords or King's Bounty.

And last, but not least important, Total Chaos has the Sword of Sassenrath, Green Ooze and Magic Wood which those other games don't.   :-D
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA
