Amiga 600 + Amiga 500 problems (both won't work... aaargh)

HI,

I recently bought an Amiga 600, to replace my broken Amiga 500. But the 600 isn't working correctly.

Everything functions normal only that the display is sometimes bugging wild, even in Workbench. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

About my Amiga 500, it has a strange diskdrive failure. It looks like it doesn't detect a disc. The normal sound from the read/write heads can be heard, but the diskrotation motor simply doesn't start, and I am looking to my nice Kickstart 1.2 forever

Err a bit more information please!

How is the A600 connected to your display, RGB cable, composite, RF?
What monitor are you using?

An intermittent garbled screen can be caused by a loss of Composite sync or similar, check the cable for wear and tear.

Sometimes stripping down a floppy drive, cleaning the gunk out and re-assembling can help.

Hi SpCo97,

The Amiga 600 is a lower quality computer then the Amiga 500.  My advice:  Get rid of the Amiga 600 and have your Amiga 500 repaired.  I can repair your Amiga 500 for a small fee plus S/H.   :-)

You dont happen to be using same psu for both a500 and a600?
And also if you dont manage to solve the problems with your a600, then you could probably put the a600 floppy drive into your a500 instead.

No, the Amiga 600 uses a "slim-line" type of disk drive, like the Amiga 1200.  The Amiga 500 uses the same kinds of disk drives as the Amiga 2000.
