Reading Playstation memory cards on the AMiga?
« on: July 19, 2004, 06:20:57 AM »
:-? I'm curious whether it is possible to hack something to permit the Amiga to read/write Playstation and PS2 memory cards.  Aminet seems to have something similar, but they're for the PSX, with which I'm not too familiar.  Has anyone seen anything similar to what I'm after?

Playstation (PSX, PS1) will work with what is on Aminet (probably, I haven't seen the file but I remember the plans floating around about 8-9 years ago).  PS2 memory cards have protection that makes it much harder.  There are readers for the PC but they require you to hook up the device to the PC and the PS2 to bypass the protection.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I've been using the PSX Port and the MCControl software to read PSX/PS1 memory cards with my A1200.

:-) That should work, then.  I recall that the PS2 can copy/move files between PS2 and PS1 memory cards.  They can't be run from the "wrong" version, -probably a formatting issue- but they can be swapped about.

:pint: Thanks!

The key is to transfer w hich files you want to access from a PS2 memory card to a PS1 memory card (PS1 and PSX are the same) and then download the software from Aminet.

What's this PSX Port thing, is it a commercial product or a hack you
have to build yourself?

Does it support uploading games to the Sony PocketStation memory
cards?

What about support for memory cards with multiple `banks'?

:-)

Wrong.  You can't copy PS2 save games to a PS1 card.  You can only go the other way.
