strange noise from 2,5" HDD after reset
« on: July 18, 2004, 01:22:20 AM »
I've connected Seagate ST9810A 2,5" HDD (800Mb) to Amiga 1200. The problem is that I get sometimes VERY strange noise after reset (its hard to describe- surprised that HDD is capable of producing it), and EVERY time the drive stops rotating and then continues.
Sometimes the HDD even starts spinning at higher speed for a moment and then slows down to normal!

I have once made a huge mistake when connecting other Seagate disk to this Amiga accidentaly putting IDE connector to the wrong ROW of pins.

I had also cut first pin from the wire to prevent spindown after each reset. After "undoing" that, sometimes there is this strange noise.
