Hi fx

usually a scandoubler, doubles ONLY the Horyzontal rate to ~31.250 Hz for PAL (15.625*2) and ~31.500 Hz for NTSC (15.750*2) without touch the Vertical rate (50 for PAL and 60 for NTSC).

With a programmable FlickerFixer (like the PIV one), you may choose the Vertical rate from 50 to 120 Hz.

So, for those monitor, should be enough, to choose a rate from ~60 Hz to 75 Hz (better) for the Vertcal scan rate.

Ciao

I have PAL ca. @100Hz and NTSC ca. @120Hz. Steady at least.

erm . . .OK and i'm happy for you :-) but if you read the topic, those monitor doesn't support more than 75 Hz v-rate.

Do note this:
Even if you reconfigure the flickerfixer to 60 Hz (or something else) to make PAL/NTSC work on your LCD, you still won't be able to see the early startup menu (because the P-IV hasn't initialized yet).
I'm speaking from personal experience here....
Get a LCD that works with no tweaking of the flickerfixer, that would be the best.

EDIT-like this LG

The response time on that one is horrible.. No good for movies or games.. But for DTP stuff it would be ok..

Price is something else, I think it's to expensive..

Hi orange,

Quote
work with Picasso IV in both 1280x1024 and scandoubled Amiga

Why would you want a screen resolution of 1280 X 1024?  Are you planning to buy a 21" or LARGER monitor?  Below I have listed the maximum screen resolution for each size monitor:

15" monitor  640 X 480
17" monitor  800 X 600
19" monitor 1024 X 768
21" monitor 1280 X 1024

So, now you see why I asked the above question.   :-o

What crap. There is no such "maximum" resolution, especially that low, for those monitor sizes.

Most 17" monitors have sufficient dot-pitch to display a 1024x768 screen without problems, and some of the more expensive ones can do 1280x1024 AND have the sufficient dot-pitch.

As for an LCD screen, you'd be hard pressed to find a 17" TFT that wasn't 1280x1024.

Where do you get your stupidity from? You could sell it, if only it wasn't so priceless.

15" monitor 640 X 480

Care to explain why my 15" TFT is running 1024*768 then ?

Also check the link provided a few post up.. most 17" & 18" TFT do 1280*1024 native these days.

Hi Neko,

What I should have said was that those are the highest screen resolutions that you can use for each screen size and still be able to read the text and see the icons.  Sure you can change them to a much higher resolution, but it will look like crap!  Have you ever wondered why the standard screen resolution for the internet is 800 X 600?

Neko, do not call me stupid.  Just because you do not agree with me does not mean that I am stupid.  In fact, it may just mean that I do know what I am talking about.

I have tried setting my ViewSonic 17" monitor on my PC to 1024 X 768 resolution.  It looked like crap.  The text and icons were too small.  Also, most of my programs prefer 800 X 600.  So, every time I would launch a program, I would here the relays in the monitor click to change the screen resolution.  Why should I put my monitor through this unnecessary wear and tear, when I could just leave the monitor set at 800 X 600 to begin with?

Keep in mind that I NEVER have hardware related problems with any of my many computers, but you guys do have problems.  So, what does common sense tell you about that?  It tells me that the person that NEVER has hardware related problems MUST KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING AND IS NOT STUPID AFTERALL !!!!   :-D

@Doomy

You're describing your personal prefences.

I won't go into your internet resolution is 800*600 madness for obvious reasons.

You still got it Doomy, you still got it.. :-o

[edit]

Yeah.. Right.. I'm still running the same Windows XP install since XP was released... Still works fine here never had any HW problems with it.  My A500 is doing fine as well, thanks for asking, not to mention all the other PC's I have under maintenance (sp?).. Only a close to 800 PC's now..

Hi,
sorry for starting all this fuss.

This is a bit offtopic:
after some surfing, I found this model interesting: Samsung 173p.
Its very expensive, but has good specs (700:1, 178/178!). The only trouble is that it is buttonless, needs software for changing brightness and other parameters.
There is a "catch", it can automatically adjust screen. So maybe I could start Deluxe Paint, make totaly black picture and then make it auto adjustment to get brighter (darker?) image for work?

Can you reccomend me some better TFT monitor for Picasso IV?
(preferably 17")

Most of the TFTs say that lowest resolution is 640x480, can thay display Amigas 320x256 at all?
Better sorry than worry.
