Stupid question about A4000 keyboards
« on: July 06, 2004, 09:07:19 PM »
I see some refered as A4000 keyboards others as A4/3/2000 keyboards, and yet others as A2000 ones.
Do all these exist or the first too are the same?

P.S. Yes, my A4000 despite working for sometime still has no keyboard doh!! :-)

A2000 keyboards have a DIN plug, A4000 keyboards have mini-DIN.

Well ....

A1000 KBDs come with a "telephone-plug" a special layout.

A2000A (and some early B) KBDs come in dark beige small F-keys and DIN-plug.

A2000B KBDs come in dark beige with the standard layout/keys and DIN-plug.

A3000 KBDs come in slighly brighter beige standard layout DIN-plug, but a slighly different case.

CDTV KBDs share the case with the A3000, only in black and with PS/2-plug.

A4000 KBDs also have the newer case, a PS/2-plug and should be in white (but are most likely in varying shades of yellow  :-(  ).
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

The A4000T have the same big DIN connector as earlier Amiga modells but in the same light shade as the A4000D. And also, at least later A4000T's, only say "Amiga" not "Commodore Amiga".

Also, the CDTVs connector isn't quite the same as the A4000s connector, the pinout is different.

Hi Kronos,

You forgot to mention the rare first issue Amiga 2000 keyboard with the RED Amiga keys.  I am looking for one of these keyboards for my Amiga / Atari ST collection.  If any of you guys have one let's talk (pmail me).
My favorite TV shows:  Star Trek Voyager, Forever Knight, Stargate SG1, Married with Children, As Time Goes By, Mr. Bean, Smallville, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Xena

The CDTV actually doesn't have a PS/2 connector though one that looks much like it... the "key" on the connector is in the center of the plug where a PS/2 connector have it's "key" more to one side.

@Doomy

I own the said Amiga 2000 rare keyboard you speak of with the red Amiga keys.  It sure is nice. :)  No it's not for sale.  I own two Amiga 2000's actually.  The other one has the newer 2000 keyboard with green led.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

@purKKi

You can connect a CDTV keyboard to a CD32 or a 4000. All you have to do is open it up and reverse the wires on the outer most edges of the cable (I think 1 and 4) and you can connect an A4000 keyboard to a CDTV and a CD32.

The CDTV pinout on the PS/2 connector is the same........except its missing one unecessary pin. Its not shifted to the middle like someone said.  I have a CDTV keyboard connected to my CD32. It works great and has a nice feeling to the keys like the A2000 keyboards or the A1000 keyboard which has soft keys, unlike the spring keys in the A600, A1200, A500, A3000 and A4000.

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

There were some differences in reset signal between various Amigas, sorry can't remember exactly which now.
