Crash course in CS-PPC! Weirdness!

I have a regular C=2002 RGB monitor connected. I suspected it was going to a frequency out of range. What seems to be a problem though is if I hit esc it still goes out of range. Am I going to need to make my own RGB->VGA adapter?

Good info, thank you for it. Do you happen to know the location #s? I'll speak with CE and his father about these, they probably have experience with them. It IS in a tower btw, it's my project machine:-)

I have OS3.9 installed so setpatch is likely in place, though I see a likely answer below:-)

That probably explains it. Problem is I have 3 other CD-ROMs the A4k won't even boot with when hooked up. Looks like I will be using either the CS-PPC SCSI and/or Buddha:-)

No I havn't had a chance to check the flash revision yet. What utility do i use to check it?

a) Is the A4k IDE really that flakey with CD-ROMs, or possible just certain ones?

No specific problems here: I had a Toshiba 4x, a Philips CDRW-800 (Now dead :-( Poor quality, and poorer service: they recycle the defective items :-x ), and now I have an excelent LG 52x.

I've added the following line on my SS:
C:SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES scsi.device QUIET

b) Wht the flakey or shot video output in certain modes like early boot menu with 2 out of 3 turbocards? Do 2 accelerators have issues? Sounds far fetched??

There is a 31Khz boot mode for the early startup and the CSPPC settings also! If you like to have the original PAL, you'll have to change this (pressing the 'Esc' key on boot, appears the CSPPC settings menu).

Use the space bar to toggle the 15/31Khz mode on the CSPPC menu, given that the default mode now is set on 31KHz (should work, I'm on a scandoubler so I can't notice any change).



As for the CS-PPC 233, if you encounter stability problems on the PPC side, get the CSPPC233Fix.

thanks for the info, I'll try tonight when I get home. As for stability on the PPC side, except for some keyboard weirdness once after launching Payback, it seems very good and VERY fast. I do mean fast! I really didn't expect this type of speed out of Payback using AGA! I can't wait to see what it will do with Voodoo3 and W3d :-D

Hmm I dont know, I have bought one at a local amiga dealer some years ago. And a few weeks ago I have seen one at ebay.de. But I think the easiest thing to do is to reflash the csppc so it will have the default settings. You will just have to extract the archive, copy the file to a floppy disk or ide drive,  boot without startup sequence and execute the flashupdate.

I dont know if its the latest flash update (I also got my first csppc this month) but i think so (who other than dce should have the latest version?). I hope it helps.

Oh, I didnt know that. So no need to flash the card because of the screenmode. :-)

the early boot menu of the CSPPC card can be seen through either 15Hz mode or 31Hz. One of your cards most likely has been preset to show it in 31Hz and possibly your C= monitor can't sync that high.

Here's what you do:

Power up your A4K with the CSPPC installed.
Hold the ESC key.
When you notice that the early boot menu finished loading and is acting weaird (high sync), simply hit space to switch to 15Hz mode. Go to the built-in prefs and set the 15Hz as default and SAVE.
