jValdron:  Good for you getting a 3000! Save2600 on here just loves his.....

As for problems installing Directory Opus.. what version did you try to install? I use Dopus 4.16 exclusively, as I just didn't like the later versions. Anyway, there are slightly different versions of basically the same DirOpus4,  strangely one found on Aminet wouldn't work on my 1200T. So, I say scour the Net, look for old coverdisks, etc. You should be able to find a version of DOpus that works on your system.
As for other applications... Well, some ppl. here might say that 4MB fast RAM is plenty..... But if you want to get into applications more, you should think about getting more RAM.  For 'common' tasks, 2MB Chip/4MB Fast might be enough....

Ahh, but I'm a Lightwave nut... I have a single scene that needs 128MB to render.. Yikes!

I was actually looking for a cheap Ethernet card, couldn't even find one on eBay.

There were two AriadneII cards on Ebay a few months ago, guess I was just lucky to get one of those for $80... Actual throughput is about 150KB/s which is not great but probably a lot higher than any Ethernet over serial solution...

Besides, why would you need a modem emulator? Can't you just run SLIP or PPP across your null-modem/serial cable?

A thing most guys does not realize: there is a gizmo called Lantronix MSS100, which is a ethernet modem emulator.

Yeah, like others says, couldn't you just use a null-serial cable?

Will try a different version. The problem is that I'm relatively new to the Amiga scene. So, I'm not too sure of what I'm doing sometimes :)
