A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2

You mean in general, or sites that deal specifically with or about the Amiga?

The situation is more or less resolved on OS4 and MorphOS... and I guess AROS, too, but I don't follow it much.

But the largest percentage of Amiga users are still on OS3, and that will continue to be the case as long as there's WinUAE and Amiga Forever. Yeah, you could just switch over to the host system to use Firefox, but a native browser would make for a more seamless experience.

I don't know why it's taking so long to get OS3 to the same level as the other systems. There's an awkward re-port of NetSurf (why didn't they just backport the OS4 version?)...

I still think a bounty could help.

Yeah, at this stage I'm not sure what the point would be.

The web is really advancing.  Even if we got Flash and CSS support we are behind.   3D in the browser, HTML5,

Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

Yeah, i saw i many sites that message for thats "supported browsers" users.

I think many sites are comming very heavy, you know, like Facebook, Hi5, and many others where you with any Peeezzeee and Windowzzz many times you encountered a few problems, anyway i dont fell this resources request in this heavy  sites make a big improve, the only thing is its more spending computer resources.

Anyway, my all time question for the Software developers is, its so hard develop a Web Browser?.. You know, becouse i see during all this past year for Amiga was very hard find any Web Browser equal to others OS Browsers, all the time in the Amiga browsers are under the others Browsers, always wanting something, making incompatible with some Sites.

Now, if your Amiga is with OS 3.X, i am aware thats Amiga are making too much browsing the Web in this times (2010), but are nice use that system today!.. but maybe its time to upgrade to OS 4.x. if you want access to sites like Youtube and others. Other thing is the Amiga Configuration, becouse if you have any 030, 040, 060, and 18MB Ram,  i dont know how works any Site like youtube in any Amiga with that configuration.

Maybe i will need obtain a Kickstart Chip 3.1!.. and update to 4.X. But the other problem is somethings like the Netsurf Browser, this will not run without Gpx card!.. then in your "very"Classic Amiga (Native Video Mode), you cant run a new browsers..

For the moment there is more to use what's available and see how far reaches

I see two options for 68k machines.

1) Identify the browser as a mobile browser.  While this won't give perfect access to everything, it may delay the inevitable by delivering page versions that have been designed for phones, and thus are lighter versions of the same site.

2)  Use a VNC client to run the browser on the Linux server in the closet while delivering the screen to the Amiga.  I'm doubting that there are many 100% Amiga users left, and the number of users with a server that could do the heavy lifting of the browser is only going up.

Stuff like this is pretty amazing....

http://o3d.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/samples/beachdemo/beachdemo.html

I love my Amiga's more than anything, but they can't do this outside the browser :(

Of course there is this...

http://www.chromeexperiments.com/detail/chiptunecom-gui/

Coming full circle.  Amiga OS IN the browser.  Ironically if you look at the "Links" window on the desktop you can surf many sites in full glory which you can't of course do on a real Amiga.   There a link to ASCI arena etc.

Oops, some how had an h in front of the word beach.  The link should work now.

Posting this from inside WB1.3 at Chiptune.com  ;-)  Found a way to get to google and then to Amiga.org :-)

This is how 1.3 should have been!!  Would have really rocked the 90s!
